How do I change the display so that it shows images before I take the picture...so I don't want to look through the ''eye'' part, just have it show up on the screen.

When the following symptoms, that is, to replace a laptop LCD screen:
No image on the screen, but the power light stays on
Dark display but still readable
Between the screen flashes on and off 1/2 to several seconds
Power light stays on, but no display and sound
No image on the screen, but LCD TV still has sound
Picture cycle on and off, as well as high-power LED lights

press the eye/lcd button just under eye piece.

Sometimes there is a button to change from using display to eyepiece.
look for something like that. I have that when i shoot video or pictures with my camera.

The pictures must be in the "JPEG" folder of either the GPS's internal memory or external SD card to display. Acceptable formats are: JPEG, BPM, GIF, BNG, TIF, and others.If you are having trouble, resizing and / or reducing the number of colors in the picture may help. If you save or convert the image to GIF, it will automatically be reduced to 256 colors.

A component called CCD IMAGER is faulty and needs replacement, Basically the component works as an eye to view the image when it start malfunctioning screen and viewfinder does not show image. The detail of said part is given below:

To change your display image on yahoo messenger follow these steps:
Login to your messenger,
At the top left corner is an icon which looks like a face directly under the messenger tab of the messenger,
Click on the face icon,
An extension comes out with manage display image,
click on display image and decide if you want to share an image or not as well as change whatever display image shows there.

It might be that it accidently change the display time of the picture or turned it off. There is a setting that you can change to display pictures. Check if that might be the problem.

Cannot change image display with yahoo messenger

Was it fixed by an AUTHORIZED service center.
Sounds like the CCD/sensor has failed, which is the eye of the camera. Go to a reputable place, I know one in Florida, but I don't know where you are.

I have checked to see if I can simulate your problem on my D70.
There are no settings on the Set-up menu to turn off the display.
The display should show for a minimum of 6 seconds after a phot is taken.
You can reduce the screen brightness but that will not turn it completely black.
I presume you have eliminated all other possibilities by changing batteries, card, lens etc..
If so, it would suggest an LCD screen failure which would necessitate a repair by a Nikon agent.
