All you really have to do is put in the ink color you want and run a bunch of prints. Going from a light to dark color like black is fast--like about 3000 prints. Black to light color is going to be a lot more prints. Best is to print something with heavy ink. the more ink you put out the fast it will change color.

Be aware that not all people would agree with my explanations ...
All inks for duplicators are nearly the same and therefore they are mostly interchangeable. Have a look at the DPI the ink is made for. Lower resolution ink may have bigger pigments and these may become stuck in the mesh of drum or the master. At least you have to fill the ink in an original bottle to use it. Avoid air bubbles!
Please weigh the risks before you continue. Techical difficulties may apply. So only courageous people should use foreign ink. - I have done often and my risographs still work very well!

I wouldn't buy this for Riso's.

If its CR or TR, E-01 is main motor lock. turn off machine and hold reset button in while you turn the machine on again. Make sure your master removal unit and master feed unit are closed corectly.

I think that you should check the connectors and ground wire, and clean surface of TPH. I have not seen one of these fail completly.

I'm pretty sure this is a printer not a copier.

Take out the cartridge and turn it upside down, you will see a (Usually) green cylinder, does it have a ring of toner, or does it appear to have been scrathed ?
Take the copy and put it next to the drum, does the lines match? Then replace cartridge. 
If not open back and take out fuser ( two screws for cover and two screws for fuser, are the rollers o.k? replace fuser.
