Red light blinking in nec lt 260

the clicking sound hopefully is the high voltage trying to start the lamp, but for some reason there may be a connection problem between the lamp and the projector power supply.
take the lamp out.

look at the lamp and check that the 2 connecting plugs are ok.
then look inside the projector at the power sockets that connect to the lamp (when it's installed).
check that the pins are not damaged or pushed down too far to prevent the lamp plugs making a proper connection with the power sockets in the unit.

Do you get lights? are they blinking? The number of blinks will tell you what is wrong if you go to the manufactures site and pull up the manual. (It may be a combination of lights instead of blinking lights)

Check for:
Bad bulb-check to see if the little wire inside is whole, just like in a lightbulb, look for cracks near the base, or any other sign of breakage.
bulb- inserted improperly?
All panels and doors must be on, and the screws in, for most projectors to do anything..
Check the cord, you should get at least one light if the cord is good.

the power supply on that model seem to go bad after a while. the caps aren't properly reted it's power needs. they dry up. if you are good at soldering, replace c1 on the board (big cap) with a cap that has a slightly higher voltage rating. or replace the whole power supply. you might not be able to get one from nec, but you can try www.projectordoctor.com

You have to contact the manufacturer for a code to reset the password I believe.

Reset the lamp and try it.
