I have a Sylvania 6432TFY. My tv remote doesn't work anymore. I was trying to change the input from the TV. I went to menu, then channel set, and I was trying to get out, but I messed something up. Now, none of my channels work. I have tried turning the tv off, and also tried to "auto preset ch" and none of the channels work anymore.

If you do not have a remote for your Sylvania TV, you can try using the buttons on the TV itself to navigate through the settings and change it back to the video screen. Look for a button on the TV labeled "Menu," "Settings," or something similar, and use the arrow buttons to navigate through the options. You may need to consult the TV's manual for specific instructions on how to navigate the settings without a remote. If you don't have the manual, you can try to find it online on the Sylvania website or by searching for it on the web with the TV's model number.

You can try remotes.com for an exact replacement or substitute remote. Search by the TV model number and not the brand. (Sylvania doesn't have a parts store but you may find the parts on line from other vendors. Searspartsdirect.com has parts for many appliances that were sold by Sears. Partstore.com also has some parts, including remotes for some TVs.)

Otherwise, look for a universal remote that matches the features. If the original remote had a menu button and a source or input button, you will probably want a remote that matches the feature. This is extremely important if there is no matching Menu or Source/Input button on the TV. Any remote that was programmed more than 6 months after the TV was released should have a code that works for your TV. You may need to try several codes before you find one that makes all of the features work on the TV. The USB programmable remotes are a lot faster to set up.

hmm could that be a "sylvania 6427 gff".. i have seen a suffix of FF, GFF and GFG ... but not TE ... at any rate those are actually CRT displays .. probably the last of their kind ... they produce a really good but standard defination picture ... when you first turn it on it should come up with a setup menu ... if the cable is connecgted at the time it should find at least a few digital channels ..probably no standard channels ...most of those models do have standard and digital tuners but not sure about your TE model ...you might try unplugging your set for a few hours ... when you turn it back on it should come up with the menu system ...you will likely need a cable box to get most of the cable channels... but you may be able to get some ..you could try hookinng up rabbit ear antenna to see what local channels you can get ....

If the buttons do something, but not what they are supposed to do.....By chance are you using a universal remote (replacement for your original)? If so, the codes for the remote need to be re-set for use with your TV. Hope this helps.

They do not say how to select Video or Game mode without the remote. Try connecting a vcr or game to the input and do the Channel Pre-Select process to see if that will pick up the input as part of the Channel Scan. If it does you will be able to get to Game or Video using the channel up/down buttons. Another option is to get a replacement universal remote that has a code for your TV and will assign a button for Game or Video.

During a recent move the remote was lost. I have the 6420FF in my son's room and trying to set up dvd and wi console set up, but cannot adjust tv via menu button on tv. Is there any way to set-up game system and/or dvd without remote?

The remote control has a "Game" button, which is how you select the external input. Since you don't have a remote you can select game mode via the front panel Menu button:

1) Press the MENU button so that the menu display appears on the TV screen.
2) Press the VOL(ume) ▲ button so that "PICTURE" is selected.
3) Select the feature you wish to adjust with the CH(annel) ▲ or ▼ button and adjust it with the VOL(ume) ▲ or ▼ button.

GAME MODE: Set to the most suitable position for TV
GAME. [+] : ON [ - ] : OFF

This will place your TV into Game mode and use the front panel video/audio jacks.
