F1 error code on Kenmore Oasis He

Our top loading washer flashes the F1 code and stops the wash cycle. It will restart and finish the wash cycle. Any ideas of what is causing this error code?

13 months old and same F1 code. $254.00 for part! Will it only last another 13 months?

  • Anonymous Feb 01, 2008

I'm having the same issue. F!. I have to restart my washer about 3-4 times for it to 'take' and continue the cycle. Was told it was a Control Unit Assembly Machine Board and that this model is famous for this break down. Can run up to $500 for repairs with labor.

    Yipee!!

  • guest4 Feb 04, 2008

I have the same problem with my washer and it's exactly 13 months old also. The F1 code blinks at the beginning of the cycle and in between cycles. It's very frustrating. Fortunately for me, I read the previous posts PRIOR to contacting sears so when the representative offered me the extended warranty for only $214.00, I took it.

Much thanks to those of you who posted the previous information.

  • diyguy Feb 08, 2008

    Same-

Kenmore Oasis nearly 2 years old. Just started the dreaded F1 error code. Power down/power up and it goes. I don't like the idea of babysitting the washer to make sure it gets through a cycle.

Extended warranty $214- New part $240. I'd be interested in replacing the board myself, but could use information from someone with experience replacing the same.

  • lori740 Feb 08, 2008

Help! My washer is only one year old. It flashes the "F1" code at the beginning of the wash cycle. If I power down and back up we can get through until the rinse cycle and then once again we go through the same routine!!

  • sldupuy Feb 09, 2008

My washer is also exactly 13 months old and I have the same problem. Funny how it just started when the warranty expired. If I rebalance the load about 5 or 6 times, or turn it off completely and go directly to drain and spin, I can finish the load. I also hate having to babysit my washer.

  • Anonymous Apr 07, 2008

My washer was also 13 months old when it started to have the F1 problem at the beginning of the cycle. Hitting cancel and then start resets it, but now it throws the F! error in the middle of the cycle, too. My machine is not under waranty. I had to pay $65 to have a tech out to look at the machine, and he said I could order the part and install it myself no problem. I'm curious if a $214 extended waranty plus the cost of a service call is worth it. The part is only $147. I can't affort $375 to have the part replace by Sears, so hopefully the replacement instructions are easy to follow!

  • mmendz May 07, 2008

Hello everyone, my washer is also 23months and we started having the same F1 error code. Right at the beggining of the wash cycle and at the middle approx. 17minutes into the rinse cycle. What could be causing this failure code. Has anyonetried to contact Kenmore? I would be so happy when they figure that out.

    Thanks

After programming the washer as usual, it started normally. After about 15 minutes, I heard a repetitive beep. When I checked on the washer all of the green lights that I had set were lit but the main display was flashing F1. I stopped the washer and pressed start. the washer displayed the time remaining and started again. After about 20 minutes the same thing happened. What is F1 and what does it indicate??

Please email me your comments in care of Kathy or Don Andrus

    Thank you

  • Anonymous May 31, 2008

F1 error appears at the start of the cycle. Need to start/stop 4 times then the error goes away. F1 comes back about 24 minutes into the cycle and I have to start/stop 2 or 3 times to get the error to disappear.

Called the 800 listed on this site. Although it is no longer under warranty, they are coming out to "upgrade" the washer on June 16. The part is supposed to be shipped to my house via UPS for arrival before the 16th. We shall see.

We have had our oasis HE washer for two years and now the F1 code has attacked. Service rep came and said they ordered the wrong part. To get the correct part is back ordered over a month. (However no recall, even though so many of this part is being oredered). This machine is manufactured by whirlpool. Whirlpool says there is no recall on this machine. But several repair shops know of this problem. When talking to the Sears service dept. and asked for a number to customer service we were given the wrong number. the number belonged to a bank. Apparently sears is aware there is a problem with this machine, but they won't admit to selling a lemon. The previous oasis line had problems but was corrected with the new model according to the store sales person. I don't think so. I also saw on the whirlpool web site about a class action law suit for the calypso washer. Maybe this is going to have to be done with Sears and Whirlpool. I saw one comment that a owner is getting their machine upgraded by Sears, please explain in more detail for the rest of us. Hang in there everyone, stick together.

  • NoOasis Jun 24, 2008

I have had my oasis for 2 years. I first had the F1 error after about 6 months. After 3 visits from Sears to fix it they replaced the computer board. Now here I am 18 months later and I have the F1 error message again. They are coming out Friday to replace the board for a 2nd time. My extended warranty is up in April and I am going to have to purchase an extension because I don't trust this will fix the problem. I have gotten nothing but the run-around from Sears and Kenmore. Do not buy this washer!!!! It is a waste of money.

  • marlenejack Jun 26, 2008

I have had my Oasis HE Canyon Capacity washer for 14 months - paid over $1000 at Sears. There is only my husband and myself, so I don't do a ton of laundry. I'm getting the F1 code now. Called the 800 number on this site today and was told that my machine was not included in the "possible recall" . The gentleman said they were "waiting on corporate" to start the recall and that they had a ton of complaints on these washers, but mine was not included because my machine supposedly has the needed upgrade. Well I guess the upgrade doesn't fix the problem because I have a practically new washer that is getting the F1 code. He apologizd but said there was really nothing they could do. What a great company this is - to charge this kind of money for a machine that doesn't last 2 years. I will advise everyone I know not to purchase a Kenmore from Sears. What a waste of money!

Same deal with our oasis, bought it in may of 06, replaced the board in November. Now we are getting the F1 message again. Unfortunatley we did not but the extended warranty. Defintely our last purchase from sears.

2 year old Kenmore Oasis HE 110.27092600.  Started out with occasional F1 on startup about 3-4 months ago.  Usually within 30 seconds of starting.  Now it's progressed to twice at startup, and then again at rinse cycle...so you can't leave it and expect clean clothes.  Took off all of the electrical connectors one by one and cleaned / polished them.  I'm back to once on startup, but can't get rid of it completely.

  • Anonymous Sep 04, 2008

Just got off the phone (800-659-7026) & was told by Elizabeth that the recall is scheduled to occur in October. She said I needed to have a Sears repair man to come out to verify that this is the same problem. When I asked about the charges, I was told that that the recall may involve reimbursement for any incurred charges.

Looks like we're all stuck and stuck good for $1000+.

  • rmoen Sep 12, 2008

I also was directed to Sears Rework/Recall Dept at 800-659-7026 today for our Oasis giving an F1 error code constantly. The rep said that Sears is negotiating with Whirlpool to remedy the issue. It would be control board upgrade - if you fix it yourself, you won't be reimbursed - if you wait, they will pay for the fix. She advised me to call back every week to see if it the agreement was finalized and in the meantime, update your address at Sears so they know where to send you the recall authorization letter. Until then, I guess I will be a slave to my washer.

  • Anonymous Sep 23, 2008

exact same problem as we are having with out Oasis. Our lid will lock and the water will run for about 5 seconds then shut off, chirp and flash the dreaded F1 error code! We have tried unplugging our machine in hopes of resetting the error code...no such luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I called the sears recall number and was told that my Kenmore Oasis Elite HE was not covered by the recall and that whatever recall that there was for another model is no longer open. Mine also has the F1 error code and beeps 5 times in the beginning of the cycle and twice in the middle of the cycle. I am not willing to pay for a repair when there is clearly a defect in the product. We have been dealing with this problem for quite a few months now and am tired of having to deal with this F1 problem! The person on the recall line was not very helpful or sympathetic to my problem. Other calls that we made to Sears have been unsuccessful and it seemed like all they wanted was your repair dollars to have someone come out to look at it.

  • evemac Sep 24, 2008

My Kenmore Oasis is less than 2 years old and I just started having the F1 problem a few weeks ago. This is outrageous that this $1000 machine needs to be repaired already and that Kenmore/Sears is not stepping up and fixing the problem immediately. I thought they were a responsible, trustworthy company. This is my first and may be my last Kenmore appliance.

  • Anonymous Sep 24, 2008

I had the F1 problem fixed for free in June 2008 using the 800 number on this site. They called it an "upgrade". Model 110.27062602, serial number starts with CT. I have no documentation that Sears ever came out to fix it, it was all rather hush-hush with no paper trail. A box was mailed to me with the part (looked like a control board) and it didn't have a packing slip or anything. I wasn't about to complain about the lack of paperwork, I just wanted my problem fixed!

  • ekaznowski Sep 25, 2008

TALK ABOUT FRUSTRATING...  I just got off the phone with a customer service rep from the rework/recall line listed.  I also have a Kenmore Oasis (glass, top loading) washer we purchased in Nov. 2006 - MODEL 110.27082603, and I have just been lucky enough to share in your F1 experience for the first time tonight - three times.  So I found your posts and felt sure that since my washer was so great that I would be one of the lucky ones who got a free fix BUT NO - NO RECALL (OR INFO) FOR MY MODEL.  I was told to call service.  I will keep trying to get help for now, if anyone knows of a shortcut to free service without waiting for six months, please please please let me know.
    THANKS!

  • dmfink Sep 27, 2008

We are having the exact same problem. F1 error when water is loading at the start of the process and just prior to the rinse cycle. We have to 'stop' and 'start' the machine at lease 3 times before it will complete they cycle. We have done everything including rebalancing, cleaning and adjusting the hoses. No luck. I have now turned to this site for help. Our modle is no more than 2 years old and we are becoming increasingly frustrated with this unit and with Sears who typically stand behind their products.

  • markark99 Oct 07, 2008

i get the f1 code in my washer i will never buy anything from sears again

  • jolin10 Oct 08, 2008

I have the same problem here. Start seeing the problem about a month ago. Need to reset the machine at the beginning of the wash circle (3 times exactly) and before the rinse circle. Bought the machine about 18 months ago. The machine is still working but need to do the reset things every time.

I called the rework department with the number given in other posts and the lady said there is still no recall for this issue but Sears is working with the manufacturer about it. I am not sure if this is true or not. Any one can confirm it??

The lady said I could pay $75 to have a technician to come to my place and check the machine. Should I do that?? Is it worth it?? :(

I really like the machine when I bought it because of its capacity and features. I expect the machine to last for at least 5-7 years.

I am thinking about replacing the board myself.
Is it difficult? Can anyone tell me where I can find the installation instruction online?? Thanks.

  • Anonymous Oct 13, 2008

I'm experiencing the same F1 issues. Hitting the stop and start anywhere from 1-3 times allows the load to go on. I contacted the 800 line and I walked into the store for a solution. All I want to know is what exactly does F1 indicate?? Why do I need to pay $75 for a tech to come out and tell me? This all seems so gimmicky to me, and I will never purchase a large appliance from Sears again! My machine is also under 2 years old. This sounds like a class action suit if you ask me! How do we get it rolling??

  • LLRQ Oct 13, 2008

I have the same F1 error issue with my Oasis HE washer Model 110.27082604 and just called the recall line (800-659-7026) and was told that Sears is aware of this issue but can offer no help at this time. They offered to send a tech out at my expense, which I declined ($70 to diagnose plus repair charges; or, pay $214 upfront & this would cover diagnosis & repair plus a one year warranty on the repair). They said they are sorry for the inconvenience to their customers, and I told them I felt if they were really sorry they would resolve this issue free of charge for the many customers who paid top dollar for this appliance that is obviously defective. I did fill out the form online to join the class action lawsuit for this product.

  • Anonymous Oct 14, 2008

    LLRQ-

You mentioned something about an "online form" for a class action suit? Where can I find that form? I've had enough of standing next to the washer waiting for error code F1>stopping>restarting. Please post this information.

    Thanks

  • Anonymous Oct 14, 2008

Yes periodically I have the same problem. I have already replace the mother board on the thing once to the tune of about $200. They didn't charge me for the part because the machine was two months over the warranty. It looks like i will have to replace it again. Sears needs to improve their product

  • mimirocks Oct 15, 2008

I have the Kenmore Oasis HE and am getting F1 error code for the first time. I have only had this washer for 18 months. My model number is 110.27062603. Serial number is CU0270513.  I called the recall number but was told this model is not on the recall list. Does anyone know what else I can do?

  • garnren Oct 20, 2008

My serial number is CT4271334, I called the Recall line today (Oct 20) and was told only machines in the CS48-CT35 range are eligible for the free circuit board replacement. Another person had posted the range of CS48-CT49 at the end of June 2008. Sounds like Sears is either swamped or backpeddling. The hotline gave me the number of the CPSC, which I called and was told that a compliance officer would investigate with Sears and get back to me in a few days.

  • rafa814 Oct 20, 2008

i just got off the phone (called the 1800 659 7026) and was told that my model was one of the affected but becouse my serial number starts with CU it doesnt fall under there service fix.......???? model is affected but becouse it was made later on it cant be fixed.....??? they said to keep checking every week and see if they had released any more serial updates.........i dont know about that, but i for one will never purchase another kenmore again.....this was supposed to be my upgrade from my maytag that finally after 8yrs of daily use the rotor went out.....i figured i would just replace it with a new one instead of fixing the old 8yr old model.....i should have just went with another maytag, but instead went with this high end kenmore that was flashy............what a mistake! i will be checking weekly as i am not fond of standing around hoping that the next reset will hold and get my washer going............kenmore has got to just bite it and just come out and be upfront to its customers and get this problem which is obviously wide spread....this type of business will not keep new customers loyal to the brand.

  • Anonymous Oct 23, 2008

Unbelievable. Just got off the phone with recall line and got the same **** about my serial number not being included.

I have the same problem....Called the 800 number and was told that I wasn't covered under any recall my model number is 110.27062602 and serial number is CT4271979. But he set up a service call for $65 to check it out...plus the cost of fixing it...Yippee Sears. They won't be in business very much longer. I am writing them today!

  • edphillips Oct 25, 2008

We do not have the Stainless steel top but otherwise it is the identical problem. I was told that there is no recall and ended up having to pay for the part to be shipped to rural Alaska. I am sure that we are all the "tip of an iceberg" and considering their seeming irresponsibility, I doubt I will be buying any more Kenmores...

  • tomnimon Oct 28, 2008

I have the same problem. Model 110.27062600. serial CT1270803. Im about to make the call. Wish me luck.

  • maryg48 Oct 30, 2008

AAARGH!!! This is the second time an F1 code has come up on my new washer...and we have only had it a year and a half. The first time was an F1 52 code which was a circuit problem having to do with load balance. We have the extended warranty, but it is just the idea that I paid so much for this machine and I have to end up getting it fixed right away. Now I am getting an F1 51 code. I am constantly having to "babysit" this machine because there is a load imbalance or a code coming up. I really wish I had never bought it.

  • seh4070 Oct 30, 2008

I have been researching this for the past 2 months. I don't know what to do? Some say there is a recall for certain models. But when I call the product resolution line (8006597036) they tell me there are no recalls on any kenmore washers. Some have replaced the corrupt board with a new one, and to find out later the same problem occurs. And how much do they really cost? I get F1 and F2 codes and today the whole board is flashing like a disco ball and making beeping noises through the whole cycle. Just in time for Halloween!

  • Anonymous Oct 30, 2008

I purchased the Kenmore Oaisis Elite in Nov. 2006. The dreaded F-1 code popped up recently. After checking the internet and noting that this seemed to be very common with this machine, I contacted Sears via the customer service link on their webpage. I was told that there was neither a recall nor a class action suit in progress with this machine. They did offer to pay for the service call ONLY. The technician just left with almost $500. The service call was built into the labor price, so.... A little over $100 of that was for a service agreement for a year, which I purchased because I am now AFRAID of SEARS and anything they sell. This is just so wrong, y'all.

  • mbettin Nov 09, 2008

Having the same F1 problem on startup and rinse for over a month now. It takes 3 restarts to get the machine going again. My model is 110-27082603, serial CT4271099. and has been in service for about two years. also, prior to this I had problems with the unit leaking and found that the discharge pump housing had cracked. Low and behold there were coins in the housing!! What a surpise to have a penny take out a washer!!. Sears offered no advice other than replacing pump. There should be a recall on that issue as well.

  • Anonymous Nov 09, 2008

I called the Rework number, not the repair number, on 6/24/2008. They
do not announce who they are on the phone so that is a bit alarming but
once I explained what I was calling about the gentleman was very
helpful. They say they have just started to work on units that are in
homes now. The part arrived 2 days after I called much to my surprise.
I had to wait for my "scheduled" service call appointment. Sears Home
Repair just left, 7/9/2008. They did attempt to collect but I had my
notes from when and what number I called with the notes of no charge.
So, they took care of it with no trouble. It seems fine so far.
(fingers crossed). Thank you for the poster with the phone number and
    information. You saved me $337.94.

    Stacy Sims.

  • johnsonlisa Nov 12, 2008

The control board is actual covered for 2 years and call 1800-479-5899 to give you back up to $150. of the labor. It took me all day to get results

  • jazzkatts Nov 25, 2008

I too have called dreadful Sears only to get the runaround. Maybe this will help:
    http://www.managemyhome.com/mmh/answers/...

    part:
    http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir...

I don't know if I should replace the part or sue these clowns....I have a backup washer, it doesn't match, but I am angered by lack of concern by Sears' associates, their PR person HAS to know there are issues with this machine.

  • Anonymous Nov 25, 2008

I purchased Kenmore Oasis Model 110.27062603 with a serial number that begins with CU. I purchased it October 24, 2007. Two weeks ago mine started with the F1 code. Just like many others below, 13 months after purchase. It makes me wonder where the control board was manufactured and if it has been pre-programmed to do this at 13 months. Makes me think this because it happens right after the warranty expires. I did not purchase the extended warranty. I believed in Sears products and felt the washer would be a good one, without complications, since $1089 is quite a lot of money to spend for a washer. I wanted to buy a good washer since I am retiring January 1 and will be on fixed income. $214 seemed like too much money for me at the time because it was hard to come up with the $1089. Now when I read all the comments posted to date regarding the replacement cost, I get sick.

On Friday my husband is going to call all the phone numbers all of you have listed to see what kind of response we get. I did call the recall/rework center today and the gentleman told me he has the same and washer and the same problem. His wife wanted the washer even though he advised her against it. He said that after his purchase, he gave his 15 year old washer to his son and daughter-in-law and they love the old washer.

If they tell my husband it will cost what all of you have been posting, I will go out and buy a cheap, plain old washer with regular dials.

From your comments I already feel let down by Sears before we have even called.

I will keep checking this website for updates.

  • Anonymous Dec 02, 2008

Our Kenmore Oasis purchased in 12/06 has the dreaded F1 erro which started 10 days ago. Afer talking to 6 different people today I was told to call the following number 1-866-769-7260 and say this: Per Sears, my machine falls under the SERVICE FLASH. The person I spoke to at this number told me she was connecting me to someone directly at Whirlpool. She out me on hold while she explained my problem and lo and behold nice lady, Michelle (person number 8) , came on the line. She took down all my info including websites I found and all my complaints, scheduled service for first thing tomorrow AM. She said the Tech will know about this SERVICE FLASH and that should he attempt to charge me, I'm to call 1-800-341-2516 which is some national CS number. She assured me they would have her paper trail. I'm certain this is likely to good to be true so I'M crossing my fingers. Hopefully, I won't have to scare some poor, unsuspecting Tech with my Washer Rage. Good Luck Everyone.

  • Anonymous Dec 02, 2008

I have model 27062 with the same F1 error. I called 1-800-659-7026 and was told there is not a recall to fix this problem, although she said Sears is very aware of the problem. My 2 year warranty expired 7 days ago so I have ordered the part and will fix the problem myself. However, I will never buy another Sears appliance. I remember the days when customer satisfaction was important and Sears always stood behind their products.

  • lmercer25 Dec 06, 2008

I have been getting an F1 error code since a few days ago. What does it mean and what needs to be done to fix it?

  • mandyguth Dec 22, 2008

F1 code keeps stoping the machine and flashing. What does this code mean

  • SEAandSHORE Jan 21, 2009

kenmore elite 110.27062602, ser# ct44*** purchased NOV 06, 14 months later F1 code showed up. Considered buying a service contract and then calling to have it serviced, but don't throw money at a bad investment. After reading most of the postings I began with calling the 3rd party product resolution number. They said that there was no recall or notice and suggested I get it serviced. During the 2nd and 3rd call I found out that the control board part # 8564393 has a SERVICE FLASH that is not the same as a recall ( or admission of guilt) and it qualifies for a component UPGRADE. wow was I giddy, the 4th call was to have the upgraded component sent to the house, and sechdule a service appointment to have it installed. I explained I did not want to have two service calls for a known problem. After 1 year of F1 errors , there seems to be light at the end of the beep.

  • OnTheWringer Feb 20, 2009

Hi, all. Had the F1 problem on our model 110.27092600. You've read the symptoms Ours are no different. Called 800-659-7026 recall number who said I must have Service Tech come out, diagnose and then be authorized to do the repair as "warranty". Followed those steps, but when the Tech called for Service Flash, he was told there was none, thus sticking me with $379.03 bill. I paid and called the recall number again. Be prepared to hold and be transferred. Ultimately, I have to call another number tomorrow for resolution, if any. I miss the old Sears!

  • Anonymous Feb 24, 2009

I have the same F1 problem. I called the 1-800-659-7026 number and was told they did not have a recall or service flash on this yet. They expect one soon. Service rep suggested I wait it out until this happens or I would have to pay for the repair and go through the reimbursement process.

  • Anonymous Feb 25, 2009

Same Problem. This is really faustrating since I have two babies that require a load of laundry done (atleast) a day. I can not wait until they fix this problem nor can afford for my washer to stop working. How long once receiving the F1 code until it stops working at all? We bought this washer in December of 2006 and just started with the F1 code a week ago. I thought maybe it was off balanced. This is absolutely ridiculous that there is this many people with the same problem on one site, for them not the recognize there is a serious manufacture problem. I miss my $50 yard sale washer that lasted 7 years for us and is still working at my sister-in-laws. (Not one problem) Does anyone no if Model# 110.27082603 is under the recall.

  • Anonymous Feb 25, 2009

the alarm would sound and I would see this F1 on the led monitor. The machine is stoppd and unlocked.  I've read the booklet for trouble shooting and found no answers. It seems others are having the same problem, what  are they doing about this

  • jfollis762 Feb 27, 2009

Same F1 problem! From previous posts on this site, it looks like I have the new & improved model not included in the mysterious recall 110-27062600. If new & improved, what is new & what is improved. Looks like the same issues to me.

We've been having the F1, DL and UL error code on this washer for 6 months now and SEARS WILL DO NOTHING TO REPAIR THIS WASHER! THEY STATE "OPERATOR ERROR" ... i.e. we don't know how to operate this washer!

    Beep Beep Beep Beep

  • marlenejacks Apr 09, 2009

Just an update to let you know that my washer is still getting the F1 code. It was only doing it once or twice at the startup. Now it's doing it 5 - 8 times at startup and again this many times when it starts the rinse cycle. It started this when the machine was 13 mos old. I've had it now for 2 years and I have to babysit my washer whenever I do laundry. Sears could care less. What a company this has turned out to be. There is no such thing as customer service with this company. I do not shop there for anything anymore and I have told everyone I know to NEVER purchase a Kenmore applicance from Sears. If this is how they treat their customers they need to shut their doors and go out of business. They KNOW there is a probelm - they just don't care - and every time I do laundry I'm reminded of that fact.

  • Anonymous Apr 14, 2009

We have been having the same problem - the machine stops in the cycle and displays F1. I just called the 1-800-659-7026 number and the are now fixing the problem for no charge. They didn't say that there was a recall, but the part will arrive in a few days and the service repair person will be here in a couple of week at no charge to install.

  • natron36 Apr 14, 2009

I just called the phone number you posted!!! Thank you thank you thank you!! I have been living with this "beep, beep, beep" for over a year now and I just called the number and they scheduled my "fix" date and are mailing out the part!!! I have a Whirlpool Cabrio, which is under the "fix".....Your a life saver!!!!

  • beepfamily Apr 18, 2009

I have the same problem. It has been happening for a while now. I wanted to thank CJPFAMILY for posting the 800 number. I just called it and the customer resolution center is sending me the part. It is to be replaced by a technician on May 1st at no charge. I am praying that works. Thanks again.

  • Anonymous Apr 21, 2009

This site is a LIFE SAVER! I ran into the same problem...thanks to Google, I found this site. I tried the number on the back of my manual (My-Home), and as reported, they had no clue and wouldn't work with me.

I then called the 1-800-659-7026 number and as soon as I gave them my model and serial number they said I was eligible for the "upgrade"...the do not call it a recall.

The part will be here in 7-10 days and the service rep will be out here within 2 weeks. Free of charge.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME CALLING ANY OTHER NUMBERS***
    call 1-800-659-7026 FIRST!

He said they hadn't sent out all of the letters yet...which is a cop-out for saying we won't do anything about it unless you run into the problem and call us.

    Thanks to all!

I am having the same problem with the F1 error code. My machine was purchased in May of 07 and the problems started around the 18 month mark. When I start the machine the F1 code immediately comes up so I have to press the start & stop button 3-4 times to get it going. Then the F1 code comes back during the rinse cycle and I have to press stop start again. I have been on the phone with at least 8 different people from 8 different phone numbers including Sears Corporate & Whirpool since they make the actual parts. They have all told me my machine does not fall in the "recall". My model # is 110.27082604 Serial # CU0980102. How is it possible that just because the machine has a "new" number but the same problem it does not qualify for the recall?

I bought this because Sears/Kenmore had the reputation for being outstanding in product & customer service. Never again!

  • Anonymous May 11, 2009

I start the washer.red light for lock comes on,water runs for a second the flashs f1 code.just became one years old. can start up after hiting stop and start. not what i paid for. top of the line ..ok

  • tisjim May 14, 2009

Same old F1 display and a non functioning expensive washing machine. We are on a 2 -3 week wait on the recall (sorry "upgrade" per the service center). My home warranty won't cover the repair because of the "upgrade" but Sears won't cover the cost of a sevice to let me know if indeed it is because of the "upgrade" ,catch 22. I won't buy form Sears again. I certainly did not expect to have issues with a 2 year old expensive machine.

  • Anonymous May 15, 2009

Same problem- F1 startup. Model # CU017144, 2 yr since purchase. Paid $75 for service call. Not covered due to "CU" beginning of model #. Sears quoted $399 for repair, and pushed me to purchase extended warranty. I declined. Says they can't help me and to call whirlpool to complain. Ordered the electronic control part from local parts store, (Electronic Control, 26.110, W1018966). Will try to fix myself. Also will complain to Better Business Bureau and Federal Trade Commission.

  • Anonymous May 18, 2009

MY WASHING MACHINE JUST QUIT'S AT 13 MINUTES LEFT ON THE CYCLE. IT WON'T DRAIN, SPIN ETC. NO ERROR CODE. I THINK THESE COMPUTER BOARDS HAVE A VIRUS. 4 SERVICE CALL LATER ALL UNDER WARRANTY IT STILL DOEN'T WORK. I WENT AND BOUGHT A NEW SET (FRT LOADER) FROM A LOCAL APPLIANCE DEALER AND THEIR ADDITIONAL 3 YR. WARRANTY PACKAGE WAS A THIRD THE PRICE OF SEARS. OBVIOUSLY SEARS NEW THEY WERE SELLING A LEMOM TO CHARGE ME $700+ ON A EXTENDED PACKAGE AND I NOW HAVE LEARNED SOMETHING MYSELF. HOWEVER THE EXPERIENCE OF THE MACHINE NOT LASTING LONG HASN/T BOTHERED ME NEAR AS BAD AS THE INCONSIDERATE SERVICE SEAR'S HAS PROVIDED. THE SERVICE CENTER IN SPOKANE, WA HAS ALOT TO BE DESIRED. IN FACT, I THINK SEAR'S SHOULD BYPASS THE SERVICE ALTOGETHER.

Same problem with the F1 Error on my Kenmore Oasis washer (only 2 1/2 yrs old). Fix was $369!! This is ridiculous, just filed a complaint with BBB (others, please do the same, we need to stand-up about this issue). I hope others will be aware of the Oasis Washer's issues and not buy it. SOOO disappointed with Sears!

  • LLRQ May 11, 2010

The website for the class action suit for the Oasis top load washer is: TopLoadClassAction.com/kenmore.php

I filled out the online form but have not heard from anyone as of yet. Hope this helps, we need to band together to get Sears attention and action to resolve this issue. LLRQ

    Hello all,

Regarding the recall or need of a project number to be assigned, not many people are posting their serial and model numbers and some are getting immediate repair/recall help and others are told

we have to wait for a project number to be assigned in another 3-4 weeks which sounds like a run around.

    Serial #: CT4270784

    Model #: 110.27082603

My washer is still working but I paid 1,000.00 for this $&#*# washer and don't feel I should have to wait to get my F1 error code fixed.

  • sayox2 May 11, 2010

I just called the number given. Since my serial number starts with "CU", I am not eligable for the recall repair. They offered to set up a repair visit for the usual $65 just to show up and I declined. They also told me that the recall repair is only to fix a spin cycle issue, and has nothing to do with an F1 code error......Just telling you what I was told.

Thank you for your posts and I will keep reviewing and adding my imput to the TopLoadClassAction and other numbers I am also calling. One more consumer with this issue couldn't hurt.

Bought the Sears Kenmore Elite He Oasis version in 2007 (110.27087604, S/N CU..., made by Whirlpool for Sears). Just started getting the F1 error. The machine is outside the recall S/N range, and seriously doubt the current Sears would listen much to someone about a 13 year old washer.

I've isolated the cause to the air pressure sensor on the control board, W1010112113_A, apparently an "A" revision of the board, after blowing through the line, and examining its routing to ensure it wasn't pinched or damaged. I can consistently get it past the F1 error when initially filling with water by using Stop/Start cycling as one would do to add more clothes. That confirms the dome is OK (i.e. not leaking). In doing the diagnostics routine, it shows an F68 which means much the same thing: air pressure sensor signal is out of range. Got a remanufactured board today, with replacement part number W10189966 that supersedes the original. It fixed the F1 error, but wouldn't stop trying to drain the tub when transitioning into a rinse/spin cycle. The water pump kept running after the tub was clearly empty. Put old board back in, cycled Start/Stop to get past F1 error, and tub draining worked as it should. Sending that board back and getting another board.

In addition, I've done circuit board fabrication and repair work. Found the part number for the air pressure sensor in one or the other comments and ordered an updated version of it from Mouser. When I get a working remanufactured board in the machine, I'm removing and replacing the old board's air pressure sensor with the one from Mouser Electronics.

Stay tuned. I will update this as events unfold.

After getting the F1 error on my model 110.27086601 and looking at other posts here & elsewhere, I made one call to the "Product Resolution Center" at 800-847-9083 on 4/9/10. They answered quickly, looked up the model & serial number I gave them (begins with CT18) and confirmed that the unit is covered under the "upgrade plan" (as opposed to calling it a recall). They are sending the part directly to me today and they scheduled a Sears tech to come install it in 10 days (or less if the part arrives sooner). The part, shipping and service call are free. The whole call took less than 5 minutes and was no more difficult than ordering a pizza. The agent was polite, professional and a pleasure to deal with.
I'm pleased that 2 years after the warranty expired they are providing this repair free of charge and without any hassle.
To those who have had problems when calling or who will be calling, may I offer this tidbit for dealing with any customer service contact? Be polite and businesslike. The agent on the other end doesn't need to hear about "how disappointed you are, blah, blah" or that you've "been a loyal customer for 84 years" and you've "never had a problem like this" or any other editorial commentary - just be friendly, and say something like " Hi, I have an Oasis washer with the F1 problem and I understand that there's a recall covering this." That's exactly what I said and the agent efficiently handled everything from there.
Remember, the agent gets measured on the number of calls they complete so they just want to take care of you as quickly as possible. Help them by just simply stating the problem and just answering their questions with just the information requested. They are not there to listen to people whine - they've heard everything you have to say a thousand times and they will appreciate your brevity and no nonsense demeanor. Make it easy for them and they'll make it easy for you. Do your venting here if you must.

I was on the phone for over an hour and 15 minutes. Have been transferred 11 times. Some people say my machine is covered. Other departments say it is not. So fed up! I have had my calls dropped 4 times even though I am being polite. I explained in detail my model number (110.27092603), my serial number, all my contact info, etc. After an hour and 15 minutes finally had a lady say that she was entering a service order and someone would be in touch within 24 hours. A little later I got an email saying they could not process the order because they did not have enough information. REALLY??! Called number on bottom of email. Explained everything again, got put on hold, then disconnected. I called back. This time I got in touch with someone who seemed to know what to do. We will see. She is sending a technician out to look at the machine and order the repair part. I was told that the replacement part was free, but I will have to pay the technician for labor. The number I called the last time was 800-215-9612. I have no idea how this is going to end.

My problem: My washer shows the F1 code at the beginning within a minute of hitting start. If I hit stop twice (turn the washer off) and restart it, it will usually work. I worry that eventually this resetting process will not restart the washer, though, and found this website.

My non-solution: In response to the solutions which post the number to call, I just called 800-659-7026 and the representative said that my model will be included in the recall. The only Oasis washer not included is model 110.27082600. He said that corporate is tied up in litigation. He has no estimated date for legal issues being resolved. Contrary to the other solution where a technician is coming out to fix the problem free of charge, my service rep said he could arrange service but that it would cost $60-70 for the visit, not including parts.

I aired my disbelief at this, but all I got was touchy-feely "I know how you feel, and if I had a washer I would feel the same way, if only they could hurry up with this litigation and we can get it going!".

This is unbelievable. I will try calling again, and in the meantime, I am glad that my washer still works.

Thank goodness I found this website! My Kenmore Elite Oasis HE top loading washing machine has been getting the F1 error code for about a month now. Up till yesterday, I was able to just power it down and then restart it and it would run through the cycle normally. However, yesterday, it kept getting hung up on F1 and I am not able to complete a wash cycle now. I still have a load of wet clothes in my washing machine!

So, after trying many of the numbers that were listed, this is what worked for me;

Call 800-659-7026, which is Sears Recall Department. Give them your model and serial number and they will check to see if your machine is one that is being "upgraded', which mine was. My serial number is CT1070909 and my model # is 110.27082601. An agent named "Tony" (woman) told me that "these Oasis HE machines are one of the ones being upgraded."

After a few minutes on hold, she came back on the phone to tell me that she has ordered a new control board and an impeller (?), which she said is the wash plate. I have to wait just over a week for the service tech to come (December 26th of all days), but I will not have to pay anything to have the machine serviced and fixed. Yea!

Thank you to whomever listed the Recall #. It probably saved me hundreds of dollars!

Just received notice directly from Sears. HE Oasis washers with serial numbers from CS48 through CS52 or CT01 through CT49 qualify for a free upgraded electronic control board. Number to call is 800-847-9083 between 8 am and 8 pm central time, Monday through Sat.

F1 code = Primary Control Failure. Replace the machine/motor control assembly. If you use a screw driver in front of the machine to open the top you will find a repair manual on the inside of the front panel. Good luck...

If your control board is W10112113 or W10130544 then the improved board is W10189966. The difference between the old boards and the improved board is the pressure (level) sensor. If you can desolder and resolder an 8 pin component, the board can be upgraded without replacing it. The sensor is available at mouser.com

Mouser Part #: 769-ADP51B62A01
Manufacturer Part #: ADP51B62A01
Manufacturer: Panasonic Electric Works
Description: Board Mount Pressure / Force Sensors ADP Pressure Sensor
Pricing: ~$10 + shipping

The board must be removed from the plastic housing. The correct orientation of the Panasonic/Matsushita sensor is with the numbers on the sensor facing closest to the edge of the control board.

  • 1 more comment
  • Test Engineer Sep 28, 2013

Yeah, not so good. The board doesn't recognize the new switch and the washer immediately begins to drain when the start button is pressed, regardless of the cycle that was selected. And it continues to stay in the drain mode until you turn the washer off. That part might be the only 'visible' difference between the old and new board, but I'm guessing that the firmware was changed as well. I put the old switch back in and everything cycles as did prior to the 'fix'. Of course with the F1 code, though. Waste of ~$10 + shipping. Guess I'm going to have to spring for the new board. Which really sucks, seeings how it's the same board that's in the other models that are being recalled. That's the last Sears product I will own.

  • Chris Goulet Sep 29, 2013

"Test Engineer": What is the P/N of the board that didn't work with this sensor? I've repaired a W10112113 and a W10130544 board with ADP51B62A01 sensors and the clients have been happy.

  • John Lind
    John Lind Dec 23, 2020

    Seven years later . . .
The part you gave is now "obsolete" but there is an ADP51B62M01 that appears to have exactly the same specs (ADP51B62) that should work. Price on these is now ~$20 each plus shipping, putting the total up to ~$30. I'm in the process of buying one and will try it on the board. I've already ordered a refurbished board, so this will create a "spare" if it works. I looked at the pinout. If someone puts it on backwards, it appears the only active pins are three of the four on one side with the fourth (Pin #1) labeled "NU". The other four on the other side are inactive, labeled "NU" which I presume means no connection. Not only does Mouser carry the part, Arrow does as well . . . and it costs less . . . under ADP51B62, without any trailing "A01" or M01".

My Kenmore is 13-1/2 years old and just now spitting the F1 error requiring one or more restarts to get enough water in the tub to trigger the sensor. The board is a "W10112113_A" which I presume is the "A" revision of the board, and the machine serial # is outside the Kenmore board recall range. Thank goodness it can be accessed from the top front. Replacing the main drive shaft and its bearings was a bear requiring pulling it entirely out of the small laundry room.

People should be cautioned to use grounded tip low wattage irons on these. All too many people use 150-300 Watt soldering guns that are not grounded tip and wonder why their ESD and temperature sensitive solid state IC electronics don't work after they've used it on them.

Panasonic sensor arrived from Arrow. Removed and replaced the defective sensor. A small wattage (~25 Watts) _grounded_tip_ iron with fine tip is more than sufficient. A good solder sucker is almost a requirement to getting the through-holes cleaned out. The pads on this double-sided board are fragile. Too much heat or mechanical stress will ruin them. Easiest to clip the old sensor's leads off at the body of the sensor and then pull the old pins out one by one after sucking the solder off of them. Good clean holes allow the new part to push right in without any significant force or difficulty. Orientation is per Chris Goulet's posting. You can also look at the part print and the bottom of the sensor to ID pin #1 (both Mouser and Arrow have the PDF print for it). On my board, Pin #1 is immediately adjacent to a small electrolytic capacitor. In addition, all the circuit traces go to pins 2, 3, and 4. They are the only active pins. Pins 1 and 5-8 have no connection.

First thing after putting the board back into the machine was starting the *manual* diagnostics and pressing the "Cycle Signal" button until a beep occurs and "Pt" is displayed indicating zero calibration of the pressure sensor has been completed. Hit the stop button to get out of manual diagnostics mode and ran the automated diagnostics which cycles through C0-C9. No error. Everything worked as designed.

I am excited to report that today I received a letter from Sears stating that my "Kenmore brand Oasis or Oasis HE washer mab be eligible for an electronic control board upgrade at no cost.. The upgraded electronic control board features new software designed to improve spin performance of your Kenmore brand Oasis or Oasis HE washer and improve detection of and adjust for potential out of balance situations". HOWEVER the letter states that only units with serial numbers that begin CS48 thru CS52 or CT01 thru CT49 are eligible!! My Oasis serial number starts with CU06!! CALL 1-800-847-9083 and ask about your machine....

Model 110.708603 Oasis Elite Canyon Capacity- F1 Error

Purchased November 2006, I absolutely love my machine. It washes my clothes great, and they are almost dry after the spin, which makes for a quick dry time. I have not had the any problems with wrinkles, ruining clothes, or not getting my clothes clean. Love the auto dispensers for detergent, bleach and softner.
We have a LARGE family and have probably washed over 4000 loads over the last four years. No kidding!!!
Started experiencing the F1 error a month or so ago and looked online for answers. I was surprised to see ALL the negative comments and experiences out there. I guess I am one of the BLESSED one who has had no problems. But with all the comments and suggestions, and reading the control board recall/upgrade I called the 800#. I let them know I have a Oasis Elite that was experiencing the F1 and it was my understanding there was an upgrade was available. He asked for my Model & Serial #, phone #, name and address(verifies when I purchased and I am the original owner). Put me on hold for just a few moments, came back online and said my machine was indeed eligible for the UPGRADE (this term eliminates stating a wide-spread issue) and said the control board would be shipped out today!! Call back when it arrives and they would schedule a tech to come out and install. WOW-it only took a few minutes. Be polite when you call, use the Cust Service reps name and it will surprise you how far that takes you.
Thanks for all the posts, it really helped to resolve my issue.

    2020 now . . .
Bought mine in 2007. I also love the machine. It's quieter than other washers, has lower water usage, with clothes clean and nearly dry after spin.

I hope yours is still running but suspect by now you've been through a drive shaft and bearing replacement at least once, along with the tub shock absorber struts as heavy as your use has been. I went through those two repairs a couple years ago. Drive shaft and its bearings is a significant one; was lucky I could DIY as a repairman for it is expensive. Now it's the F1 error and mine isn't in the S/N range that was covered. Fortunately I can get a refurb board at about 1/3rd the current cost of a new one. In addition, one of the other postings here cited the sensor part number. For those that have the tools to work on circuit boards and can remove and replace parts on them properly, that's another solution which I'm pursuing with the old board.

Just called 1-800-659-7026. I found out through this website that my machine has been recalled. Called this number and the representative denied TWICE that my machine was not included in the recall. (Kenmore oasis model #110.27092602 Ser. CT 4070844) She kept on putting me on hold and came back TWICE telling me that my washer is not included. After telling her what I've learn on this website she put me on hold again and came back and said..."Your machine is IN the recalled list" No I'm sorry I made i mistake or anything like that. So if I wasn't persistent enough she would of had her way and I would of spend who knows how much fixing my washer. So she made an appt for Sept. 21 and it's free of charge or course!!!

So do your homework before calling that number.

Hi all...I'm also having the F1 error code after having my washer barely two years. I called the 800-659-7026 number as suggested by others here and Sears is coiming out to fix the problem free of charge. The CS agent said no recall on the problem yet, but they are aware of the chronic error code and are taking care of customers on an as needed basis. So call this number (not their standard repair number) for a free repair.

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2011

Thank you!! I didn't have this problem until 2011 but this number and advice is still good! I just called and my part is on the way. Thanks again!!

  • Anonymous Jul 23, 2012

July 2012 and the part is on it's way! I called the regular service repair number 800-469-4663 posted on the Sears website and the rep had no idea what i was talking about. After putting me on hold numerous times, he informed me that there was no recall on this machine. I then called the 800-659-7026 number as suggested by jzeus and others on this blog and within 5 minutes i was informed that my washer has a recall and they will ship a part and send a repair tech. Model number is 110.27032603, Ser # is CU1770989. I'm so happy I found this site. Thanks so much!

Call this number 800-659-7026. It is Sears rework department. They know about the problem with the control boards and they are coming out to replace mine for free. It is almost 2 years old. I was told that they are sending out letters to all to notify everyone about the problem and how to get it fixed. I guess I am lucky that I didn't already replace mine with my own money.

I too had good luck calling the 7026 number .. my serial is CT39----, model ends in 603. They are sending a board to my residence and I'm to call and schedule service upon arrival of the part. If it looks to be straightforward I may install it myself as I have a few tools and used to work on aircraft elect. systems :)

  • luisgr29 Jan 20, 2011

thank you... I just call the number and they are sending the control board for free an a technician to install it...

  • jamboyer Apr 17, 2011

I've had my washer since 11/2007 and just started getting the F1 code last month. I called the number listed above, and was told the fix stops at serial # CT35 - mine is CU40. I don't want to pay the $369 many other have listed so will probably just buy the part for my dad to replace. If anyone has any other advice, I'd greatly appreciate it!

2011 I called and my part is on the way!! Thanks!!

I called the recall number and found that we are the unlucky owners of the Oasis HE washer that is not covered under the recall, model 110.27082600, (supposedly this model isn't covered because it is the new and improved version). We purchased the washer, dryer and a Kenmore stove all on Nov 16, 2006, so my washer isn't even 2 yrs old yet! I already had a $400.00 repair on my stove 13 months after the purchase, and was looking at about the same expense for the washer! After calling the Sears "4 my home" 800-469-4663 number listed in the post from dogmom, I was fortunate enough to find a compromise. The man I spoke to said that he could offer me an extended service warranty agreement for $214.99 and it would cover parts (up to $500.00), labor and any trip charges for the following year. If they are unable to repair the machine, this warranty will allow for $500.00 toward the purchase of a new machine. Not the ideal fix, but definately better than paying for the whole repair out of pocket and facing the possibility that it could happen again.
Good luck!

Just to let everyone know...the recall is STILL in effect...I just called the recall number and they are servicing and replacing my board free of charge. Call 800-659-7026, which is Sears Recall Department. They were very polite and took care of it.

  • Anonymous Aug 11, 2012

I have a machine with CU and and 04 ending on the model...one number said it is not covered but the number above 800-659-7026 was fabulous!! They immediately said they will send the part and tech for free!! thank you russ!!!

  • Anonymous Nov 10, 2012

I called and they easily gave me a new circuit board with a confirmed installation date. But when the tech came out he said I already got a board and I do not qualify for a new board. Ovbiously I need a new one since it was giving me the dreaded F1 code. They said I only qualify for one new board. I bought the machine in 2007 and needed the new board in 2009. Been fine since then. But once again the F1 code. Obviously they never fixed it right the first time. $1100 washer with problem after problem.

I was getting the F1 error code & the washing machine would just bstop with 13 minutes left in the cycle. Pushing stop 2x then start would usually fix the problem. After about a month of this, the error code then changed to F1 then what looked like either 5D or SD, still stopped with 13 minutes left, but now would leave alot of water in the machine. A few more weeks & now it just doesn't work at all! My husband finally said to go online & look up troubleshooting, and that's how I came across this site. My model # is 110.27072600 & the serial # is CT1370357. I called the 1 800 659-7026 & was ready to have to ask for a supervisor. The Customer Service rep howerver just asked for my name, the telephone number I provided when I purchased the machine & my address, & she immediately advised me that I was covered for the "upgrade", arranged to have the new circuit board shipped, free of charge, & scheduled an appointment for the tech to come out next Fri., Dec 18, 10 days later! I'm only sorry I waited so long to deal with my washing machine problem! I would advise others to not start with the model & serial #, but with their name, address & telephone #, because that will show when their unit was purchased, and it should also show wether or not it is covered under the recall!

I just started getting the F1 error code. I called 1-800-659-7026 (Kenmore #) and gave them my model and serial #. They told me I was impacted by "the recall" and that they would order the part and ship it to me. Once I receive it I'm to call and set up an appt. for them to install it. So don't waste your time going through any #'s but the one listed above. I did have to ask for a confirmation # though. Good luck!

thank you, i called several #'s that were listed in other postings that lead me to other #'s. Just called the one you posted and they were able to tell me right away that my washer is on recall too. they are ordering parts and sending a tech free of charge, thanks for your posting

  • peaps123 Sep 04, 2010

I just started getting the F1 error code too. Would you be able to tell me your model number because they told me that my model number 110.27092603 was not the one under recall. If we are all getting F1 error codes they should fix them all for free regardless of the model.

  • hcdc143 Sep 04, 2010

Thank you for posting this number and info. I just started getting the F1 error. I called the number and my model was impacted by the recall as well. They would send the part to upgrade my machine to directly to me. Scheduled a tech visit, and advised if I received the part sooner to call and change appt. My Model is 110.27087602 Serial is CT3570026. I am so glad I found this site and your info!

  • rpinkston73 Oct 07, 2010

have you actually had the repair finished not just the part? I am having the same problem.and am going to call this number if you actually got results.

Folks,

I found out it is the Grey control box that is the problem per Sears service agent. I drew a diagram of where the colored wires go, removed two screws and replaced it myself. No problems since.

The part was on back order for a few weeks. I have also notice that the cycle times are longer than before, so I don't know if economy was sacrificed.

Let's see how long the replacement last.

Thank you for all the posts. I called the recall center twice and they said that my number 11027087604 was not on the recall list. I was also getting the F1 pop up on the washer. The second time I called I asked why it wasn't on, the girl told me to call 1-888-kenmore to see if there were any updates on the recall. The rep there told me that there is a problem and that they would send a service repairman out and he would fix the problem at no charge. She said it is not the whole unit but one other part. Thanks for all of your posts and help.

May 2, 2014- For those like me who have this same problem and are wondering if these helpful solutions from 2008-2010 still work, THEY DO! I first called the 800-847-9083 #, and talked to a guy who transferred me to the Recall Department. From there I talked to a lady who, as best as I could tell, was just clueless and didn't know the proper procedure to look into my question. I hung up with her and called the 800-659-7026 #, and to my surprise the same clueless lady answered. Both 800 #'s ring to the same office- in my case the same lady. So what did I do???? I just kept calling, and that lady kept answering, and I kept hanging up on her. Finally someone new answered, and low and behold, within 10 minutes, my "recalled"... "upgraded"...whatever part was on its way, along with directions for scheduling the service tech. All free of course!! Thanks to all the posters on here who helped so many people with this. Be persistent and it will pay off!!

Same here....now July 2014, and I used the (800)659-7026 number to get a new part on the way. I spoke with Issac, and as soon as I explained the issue, he took my Model #, Serial #, then confirmed my address/phone to ensure I was the original buyer, then told me the part was being shipped. From there we coordinated on available appt times/dates, and *presto* I'm on my way to (hopefully!) no more F1 errors blinking....

FYI to all, I called all the numbers listed in these postings, was told several times that the model number I had was not one they were fixing, even though several posts said they received letters stating that they were, asked to talk to a supervisor as many posts suggested, no help.  I followed suggestion of one of the posts way down stating to lodge complaint with the BBB (its the one in chicago btw that you use).  It took about 2 weeks, but my local Sears called and told me they would fix the washer free of charge, they come out on 4/12/2009 to fix it.  So, just wanted to put on a recent post that the BBB action seemed to do the trick.

UPDATE:

I was one of the angry posters below. See my post from Oct 23 below.

After no luck with the 800 number I was pretty upset and decided to file a BBB complaint through their national website. About 5 days later we went ahead and ordered a new control board as we had to have a working washer and I wasn't going to spend a bunch of money for someone else to fix it.

The day after we ordered it some lady from corporate called and said that all of the sudden our model was included in the recall and they were going to fix free of charge. My wife said she was really nice and helpful. Anyway it was a little tricky since we had just ordered the part and took a couple of calls, but within 3-4 days we had the part and a technician came out and fixed in about 10 minutes for free. Been working fine since.

I think it had to be the BBB complaint that triggered action, I'm not even sure where else they would have gotten our number from? Anyway the wife is happy so I'm happy.

Scary side note. The technician kept trying to get my wife to buy a $125 one year extended warranty. My wife said "I've fixed this twice in the last year I better not have to do it again" and said no. The technician basically said it was pretty likely to break again, cause it's a fancy machine with lots of bells and whistles.

Glad we got resolution (until something else breaks), but still won't deal with this type of washer again.

Please, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

Filling out the information only takes 8-10 minutes of your time.
Hopefully, we can make an impact!

This is what sears just told me this is a power surge fault code. They told me to unplug for 3 min plug back in. My panel stayed blank she then told me to press power then press stop, cancel or pause twice that shuts panel off again then power back on and start as usual. She said that this dosent happen very often but this is how to fix. I hope this fixes it but if it dosent i am covered until july of 2010. I will be watching this machine like a hawk to make sure its right. Good Luck

This is my 2nd time to replace the circuit board under my warranty. in order to replace the washer, it has to have had a actual parts repair 4x's to replace it. i totally regret buying this expensive piece of junk. my roper washer i bought before lasted 15yrs with a minor replacement on the lid.

Like many others, I have been experiencing the F1 error code on my Kenmore Oasis Model# 110.27087601.
I had not researched my problem thoroughly enough, and every fix I read about involved a $300 repair, so I called Sears and bought a new warranty for $243 and scheduled a service call.
Then I decided to dig a bit deeper and found this posting. I called 800.847.9083 and after a short wait, I was assured that the problem was covered under The Upgrade and a no cost repair would be made to my machine, scheduled in one week with a part to be delivered in the interim. Hallelujah!
Then I called Sears back to cancel the warranty I had just bought. I politely asked why I had not been notified earlier (when I was buying a warranty) that my machine might be covered. The explanation? "Mr. Jones, we have millions of recalls and we don't even try to keep up with them."
I believe this will be my very last Kenmore/Sears purchase. Ever.

Just called as mentioned above to 1.800.659.7026 and after being bounced around to a few different people who could not assist, got back to this line. Specifically asked about a recall and gave them the model and serial number of my washer. They said that it qualified and they are shipping the part and have tentatively scheduled a service rep. I wish I would have called this number sooner as my wife and I have been dealing with this issue for about 9 months now.

8/24/11 I've had my washed since 2006. Love it and have never had a problem UNTIL NOW, I stared getting the F1 code! Went online just to see what the code was, found this thread, and found out about the recall/update. I called the number mentioned above 800-659-7026 (not even sure who I called) and it was so easy! Super nice, checked my mod

I have the same F1 error on the Kenmore Elite Oasis Top Load washer - Model # 110.27092602, Ser# CT4970102 and called 1-800-847-9083 and spoke with Yolanda. She said my unit was not under a recall. I told her that my research showed that it was. She again told me it wasn't. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she hung up on me. Then I called the Kenmore recall # 1-800-659-7026 and they only asked for my model #, quickly said that my washer was under the recall and are shipping the control board via UPS and have the repair technician scheduled to come on 6-6-11.

Don't give up if you get the run around. Keep calling and you will likely have more success.

My washer has just started indicating the F1 problem as well. I purchased my Kenmore Elite Oasis Elite Washer from SEARS in the spring of 2007. My model # 110.27082604, Serial #CT5270063. I have called all the aforementioned phone numbers (Product Resolution Line 800-659-7026) to discover that my washer does not qualify for the upgrade that Kenmore and Whirlpool issued 2 years ago when it first noted the F1 problem. The issue deals with a faulty Electronic Control Board.
As luck would have it, my extended warranty and service agreement with SEARS expired 2 months ago and I now must incur the expenses necessary to fix my washer. The SEARS service call is $129 and the part (#W10189966) is $175. As expected, SEARS has offered me a new protection plan for $214.99 which would cover service calls and any parts up to $500 for a year. So the question remains, which expense should I deal with, the new service agreement or should I just order the part and try to fix it myself?
I am quite disappointed in SEARS, Kenmore, and this whole process. I hope you have better luck!

My 2006 Kenmore Elite Oasis washer went on the fritz with beeping and reporting a "F1" error a couple days ago.
My serial number is CT09070134.

I called the Sears service number (800) 424-2047 and they wanted either $129 for a service call plus whatever the parts would be OR $214 + tax for a 1 yr service agreement (covering up to $500 on a new washer). No mention was made by them of any recall.

Then I did some searching on the Internet and found about a recall that appears to not be publicized. I called the 800-659-7026 number and spoke with Jesse. He asked me for all my Model and Serial numbers and confirmed that this was all covered by recall. Part is coming in a week. He cancelled the service call. Net result so far is no charge... but I will follow up with what happens in a week.

It would have been really decent of Sears to send out postcards to everyone that their washers were recalled. It would have been decent for their Service department to tell me there was a recall. But from doing a little Googling and finding some good info here and finding a decent person at Sears, I just saved myself about $230.

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2010

    The follow on to this:

The washer was fixed. But now it takes about 10 minutes longer to do a regular wash.
My wife hates it for some reason. I don't see the problem.

Took some real patience on my part and some help from inside Sears to get their Billing Department to not charge me for the work. Eventually, the charge came off my credit card.

The whole experience was not pleasant.

I had the dreaded f1 code and had to babysit the washing machine by pressing stop and start multiple times from the start cycle and at the rince cycle {about 19 minutes to end of wash}.Called all the ph#s about the recall. My MODEL # 110.27042602 Ser # ct4170501.Sears told me that i was not covered due to the serial # was past the range of models covered.Needless to say that i did not recieve any type of help from these people, even though i spent good money on this P.O.S. Good news though,I knew that the "Main Brain" was the culprit so i took a chance and called Apliancepartspros.com and gave them the O.E. part #.The new part # is w10189966 {about $160.00} shipped to my house within 2 days.I installed it myself,no big deal if you have any type of mechanical experiance.Did a test load of laundry and wahlaa it works just fine! Thank you Sears i wil never buy another Kenmore product for the rest of my life, and by the way i have lot of freinds that know my story and they feel the same way.

I purchased my Oasis washer (#CT4371143) 3 years ago (Jan 2007) and just started getting the F1 error code (March 2010). It happens about 4 times at the very beginning of the cycle and again when the timer says 16 minutes left. I received a letter from Sears at LEAST a year ago stating that my washer was eligible for an "upgrade" of the electronic control board but I had to respond to the letter within 90 days. The model numbers eligible in the letter said CT01-CT49. Instead of calling the number in the letter, I called the number everyone has been listing on this thread (800-659-7026). The first person to answer the phone told me that since that letter came out, they changed the model #'s eligible to CT01-CT35. When I questioned why, he asked if I would like to speak to another person and transferred me. I told the story to the next person and she transferred me to another person who made the decision to ok the upgrade. They are shipping me the part and I am scheduled to have a tech come in 2 weeks. She didn't say anything about cost--just that she would honor the upgrade. I'll repost if doesn't all work out.

I have the same F1 error and have to press start/top 3 times. I called 800-659-7026 twice and they are obviously keeping notes because they didn't have to ask me for my serial number the second time. My serial number starts with CT51 and I was told the "range of serial numbers that fall under the recall has changed and that the new range is CS48-CT35." Guess I'm out of luck. I completed the class action lawsuit form listed on this thread.

Thank you BAKERE - Solution #11. I called the number you posted and was told by a very helpful rep, Helen, that my washer qualifies for an upgraded electronic control board which will be shipped to me at no cost. She also scheduled the repair technician and stated he will install it at no cost. Thank you for this website and all your help!

I too had this problem. I happen to have a service agreement so I was able to call the repair center without incurring charges. The "f1" code requires the replacement of the control panel of the washer. The part costs approximately $350-400 and the labor is about $150-200.

I actually have a new in box control panel in the wrong color for me - "white" if anyone is interested in purchasing it at a discount.

You all are wonderful for helping solve my problem. I have the same F1 problem and, lucky for me, i determined by reading your postings that i have the model eligible for the 'service flash' component upgrade and free service call to install. thank you for providing the resolution center phone # (800-659-7026).

I also called the 800-659-7026 number. I spoke with Amber, who was an absolute DOLL at helping me fix this! She said that yes, there WAS a class-action lawsuit, but it only pertained to the models made on or before 2005. My waher/dryer combo was purchased and installed on August 2007, so it doesn't apply.

I gave her my model and serial number, and she transferred me to the warranty department to confirm the warranty. They also have technicians in my area who can come out in as little as a week (this is Thanksgiving week, mind you) and Saturday service available in my area. YAY for Charlotte, NC!

---a side note, I was getting the F-1 error for about 3 weeks, and then a few nights ago, it just died.

The Warranty department said that we are 90 days over our warranty expiration, there's nothing they can do, it's $60 for a tech to come out and diagnose the issue (we all know what the issue is!) then we would have to pay for parts and labor and a SECOND technician visit when they would actually come out here to install the new part!

Frustrated, I told the lady on the phone, Tess, that I wasn't happy about this, she suggested I call the "One Source" department at 800-479-5899 and press 1 for the "failed too soon" hotline.

A few minutes later I got through to the "too soon" people, and they said that they would be able to assist me up to $150 for the service visit, parts, and labor, and would be able to get a tech up here on FRIDAY (as in, Day-after-Thanksgiving) instead of the following Tuesday! She just had to put me on hold to schedule it. (I'm typing this while I sit here, patiently listening to their hold music.)

Just so you all know, the model # I have is: 11027086600.

They will be here between 8am and 5pm. I have to pay the up-front charge of $65, and sears will reimburse me then for up to $150 for the service call, and any parts and labor that will result, like if he needs to order parts or whatever.

I then had to be placed on hold one last time to get a case number for the $150 reimbursal.

I know it's frustrating, but they seem to be trying to help out quite a bit, and as long as you're polite to the people on the phone (after all, it's not THEIR fault), they're very willing to work with you an dtry and get to some compromise where you're happy.

Am I fully satisfied? No. I don't want to pay one thin dime after spending a fortune on this machine! BUT -- at least I don't have to buy a new washer right away, and Sears is eating some of the cost to fix it, and they're getting me a tech out here asap, for which I am grateful.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ok here is the deal. The # to call is the Sears Customer Complaint Dept. 1800-549-4505 I think i pressed 5 but it doesnt matter just get a person. They will act as if they have no idea about any F1 problem. Then they schedule an appt for a repairman to come out. That was when I said," I just wanted to confirm that I will not be paying for this". She said that I would have to. In a very stern voice I asked for a supervisor. She said she would see if a supervisor would wave the fee. I have an appt in 5 days. My tip is to remain cool but be very stern and dont atke no. Keep in mind, EVERYONE has a supervisor ! Climb the latter till you get satisfaction. This is not our fault but we are paying the price for it. Good luck !

I just called the 800-659-7026 Rework Department number this morning. The rep I talked to just said, "I'm not a technician," but did say I should contact the Federal Trade Commission to get the recall going because it's caught up in litigation.
Here is the FTC's number: 877-382-4357 Also, I'm going to try calling Whirlpool (the manufacturer) to attempt a resolution: 866-698-2538
We have the Model 110.27082602 (glass top canyon capacity) and have been getting the F1 error for about a month. We purchased the washer and dryer about 2 years ago. Will post again if I hear anything productive from the FTC or Whirlpool.

I had the same EXACT problem I called Sears with same recall results -- no recall info on file.... I replaced the circut board as other readers said ( after 1st trying to disconnect & reconnect with no luck) and it worked Sears said part was backordered until Oct 5th but received in 5 days was about $130 to fix myelf beats $400 for service call it is a shame that this breaks in less than 2 years but I thought it was worth taking a chance for a little over $100 vs $900 for a new washer. To stop the hassle of wasting time to reset at startup & at start of rinse cycle was worth the price/ I will still try to get something back from sears but at least the washer works (for now anyway)
Hope this helps ?

I called 800-659-7026, which seems to be a 3rd party "recall" center for appliance companies, for my F1 error code. All Kenmore HE Elite Oasis machines with Serial Numbers beginning with CS48-CT49 are in the process of being recalled; however the mailings haven't gone out to customers due to hold-ups in legal with wording. Machines with these serial numbers require an upgraded control board and it takes about 10 business days for the part to come in. They ordered it with no questions asked and are coming out July 14th to replace it free-of-charge.

I just called this number after two failed attempts to talk to Sears. When we had received the recall notice back in 2007, I called the number given, and was told that they would call me when the part got in. I never received a call, but since we didn't have a problem, I didn't follow up. Fast forward to 2011 - and the dreaded F1 code. The scheduling department said there was no recall notice, and was incredulous that I would try to pursue the recall after 4 years. I had him transfer me to Customer Service, who told me that the recall had expired. DO NOT BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE. When I called the 800.659.7026 number, they said that the recall had not expired, are sending the part to me, and scheduled a free service call to install. Do not call Sears At Home - they will do nothing for you regarding this recall. As of October, 2011, you can still get a free fix.

our oasis he model# is 110.27092603, the serial # cu26 and the type is a 580. I called the 800-659-7026 # and told him the f1 code was going off,and machine quit working. He asked for model# and serial #,then said it wasn't covered, only certain models and years are covered, and mine isn't.Why are they covering some and not others?I feel like their very dishonest.

  • Anonymous Oct 14, 2011

My washer is a oasis he purchased in 2007,I saw your post so I called. He asked for my manf.# and serial #which is 110.2709 and cu26,type 580.He said mine wasnt covered, only the ones 2008 and newer were.Sounds like their giving people different stories.

  • sam lagrotteria Nov 17, 2011

just called the model has been recalled but not the serial number........I will never purchase any thing from Sears in the future.......this is not the first problem I had with with Sears. Nicki Goldberg their Regulatory Complaint Specialist at 512-248-7741_1-800-762-3049 Ext. 87741 while looking into an issue that a Sears Tech determined to be a Manufacturers Defect told me - no this is not our problem.

I am SO glad I saw the post from xciting01 on Sep 12 2009 (solution #19)!

I spent some time getting the runaround from the Recall Center at 1-800-659-7026 today.

It was the same story as others: The first-line rep says there's no such recall. Asked her to check again and she says she checked with her supervisor and there's no recall. I asked to talk to the supervisor myself, and he maintained for a while that there was no recall. But as others suggest, be persistent. He finally admitted that, "oh yah, I see there is a recall." He asked for my model number and serial number.

Model: 110.27092602
Serial: CT3970222

He said my serial number is out of range. I asked him to check again, since the range should be CT01 - CT49. He didn't check anything, but just said, "Oh... uh... they changed the range to CT01 - CT35." I asked him when they changed it. He said, "oh... uh... Aug 31. Yah, that's it."

Oh darn, I just missed it! :-)

Anyway, after seeing xciting01's entry on Sep 12, AFTER he said that they changed the range, and her number is CT40, which is even MORE outside of his "new" range, I'll definitely be calling back!

  • Anonymous Nov 18, 2009

Here is some additional info about the numbers that are being suggested to call.

First I tried the 1-800-659-7026 number yesterday. Nice and polite and all, but said that my CT39 serial number wasn't covered. They said that the cutoff is CT35. They seemed to be pulling that number out of the air, so I didn't believe them.

Today I called the 1-800-847-9083 number. It turns out that it's the same office. The guy I talked to today even knew the guy I talked to yesterday, and said the two numbers both come to their office. Unfortunately, he also quoted the same CT35 cutoff. He was a little more believable, he told me the number before I gave him my serial number. So it was a little less like he was just picking a number lower than mine.

Okay Friends:

My wife and I share the Kenmore & Whirlpool F1 code problem.

Ours is a Kemore Eloite Oasis, model 110.27032600.

When I called Sears "4 my home" 800-469-4663, I was told by CJ that the F1 would flash as the result of irregular voltage to the machine. I asked her for a solution, and she said they'd have to send a technician. Fine.

I explained that I had seen quite a few people on line who shared similar problems, under both the Sears and Whirlpool "Cabrio" brand...Same code, same symptom, and all happening in the same time frame (12-18 months into service).

I found out that there is a recall line!

I called the recall line for Sears: 800-659-7026.

Gerry, their rep, couldn't have been nicer and more to the point. She spoke of the control panel problem which would have to be diagnosed by a tech. But, the important part was that she was aware of a "letter" that may or may not have gone out specific to this issue/make/model (the letter going to owners) as well as a "Service Flash" that would have gone out to their tech people in the field about the problem. Though I had not recieved a letter, she said to be sure to let the tech know about the service flash, and if there was any issues/questions about coverage, to have the tech contact the recall/"service flash" line.

Hopefully this will some of you get to a solution---faster!

SOURCE: F1 error code on Kenmore Oasis He

I think there might be a recall on your washer call to see. I am not for sure that there is a recall but I a m pretty sure there is. So don't quote me on that. the f1 error code usually means that you have a bad board. f1 means that your pressure switch line is failing and this is all in your board. check your owners manual if whirlpool is not going to pay for this repair sometimes there are extended warranties in your manual

SOURCE: F1 error code on Kenmore Oasis He

The F1 error code on this washer indicates a Primary Control Board failure.

It is likely that the machine control board will need to be replaced to correct this problem.

The part number for the machine control board is undetermineable because you have not provided me with the exact model # of your washer.

The procedure for replacing the machine control board is provided HERE

NOTE: Be sure to unplug the washer to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components.

There is a slight possibility that a problem with the pressure switch hose could be causing this problem.

A pinched or twisted air hose can cause this fault code.

When you open the console, check the air hose connected to the pressure switch on the machine control board.

If it is pinched or crimped, I recommend rerouting the hose to resolve this problem.

This may fix your problem without replacing the control board.

NOTE: You may want to check for this condition before ordering the control board. Most electronic control boards cannot be returned for a refund or credit.

If you find no apparent problems with the air hose on the pressure switch, then replacing the machine control board on this washer should correct your problem. There is a risk involved in replacing this part yourself.

As noted above, you could have a problem with the air pressure hose that is not apparent upon your initial inspection. A service technician would normally need to properly and thoroughly diagnose this problem before replacing the control board.

Moister can get in between the contacts,is it in a high moister environment? Try using a hair dryer on the panel to dry it out. Also unplug it to reset.

What is the HC code for the washer . It comes on after the wash cycle is finished.

After replacing the part to fix the F1 code, the washer (Oasis he) now comes up with a HC code. Also, even though the cycle is set for warm/cold, the clothes are coming out hot at the end of the cycle...and the cold water is hooked up and on. Any suggestions?

I think there might be a recall on your washer call to see. I am not for sure that there is a recall but I a m pretty sure there is. So don't quote me on that. the f1 error code usually means that you have a bad board. f1 means that your pressure switch line is failing and this is all in your board. check your owners manual if whirlpool is not going to pay for this repair sometimes there are extended warranties in your manual

How do you open a Kenmore Elite Oasis top-loading washer?

I just finished installing my new control unit for my Kenmore Oasis and my F1 problems are GONE! I ordered it from Sears Direct Parts. With shipping and taxes it came out to about $174 for the part, but our issues are gone and now we can wash a load of clothes without having to reset it several times.
