Kenmore top loader washer - No spin - motor rattles - wtr pmp ok

I have a Kenmore 20702-991 series top loader washer. In wash cycle the center pillar barely turns and during the spin cycle it wont spin.

Motor seems to be running but there is a thin rattling sound now. I can hear the motor change its speed when I change the speed using the spin/agitate knob.

Water pump is fine, it drains the water during the spin cycle.

Kenmore 80's series top loader only works on wash and rinse cycle

This is a problem with the pump being stuck so the motor cant turn the whole thing. Turn the washer on its side, underneath you can acces the pump, which is connected to the motor by two long clips. remove the pump and take out the colg that caused it to get stuck.

Machine will not switch to drain and spin cycle

If you take the front off in the lower right you will find a pump motor that controls the drain flow. This may defective. Use a shop vac to empty the water in washer if needs be. But remove and test this pump.

Washer agitates, drains OK, but spin doesn't start

Timer is defective. Your unit has a netural drain. When finished agitating, the shuts down and then starts up reversing to drain and spin. On the initial reverse start, the water drains without the transmission spinning. After a timed period 3-4 minutes, the timer is supposed to pause, stopping the motor for a few seconds. When the motor stops again, the transmission shift to the spin cycle and when the timer resumes power tothe motor it should spin. You are doing the same thing when you lift the lid...stopping the timer and then the tranny shifts and when you set the lid down, the washer spins. Replace the timer.......

Kenmore series 80 washer only works right on hevy duty load

CHECK SEE IF MOTOR IS SEIZED BY TIPPING MACHINE FORWARD AND SEE IF YOU CAN TURN THE MOTOR BY HAND. IF MOTOR TURNS FREELY , YOU HAVE A START CAPACITOR PROBLEM.
