Hello Reine if you can still see the picture just faded in the backround then this could be a bad connection inside your tv set that was created by the jolt because your back light is still working unexpensive to repair, if you can not see the picture anymore there could be two things that coulda happened the ccfl lamp got damaged by the jolt and needs to be replaced or the inverter power supply blew a fuse or a component and has to be repaired, what i would recommend for both cases is to take it to a near by tv repair shop and let them tell you what is wrong with your tv set if it turns out to be the inverter board that is defective they sell some online and you can replace this board on your own just be very careful when doing so, thank you have any more question just ask hope this helps.

If the panel was hit when jolted it may have shorted out the panel. It may have just jarred a connector loose to the panel or some other board. You can try unplugging it for about 5 minutes and see if the picture comes back. If it doesn't come back on, connections should be checked and reseated. If that doesn't work or there is a crack in the panel it will be cheaper to replace the set. Have it checked at a repair shop to make sure a board didn't crack.

2008 46" Toshiba Regza, has bad picture when cold

It would help to see a pic or video. The fact that hitting the top side clears up the picture leads me to believe that you may have a bad LCD panel tab. If this is the case, the only true fix is to replace the screen, BIG $$$

Removal of stand

There are 5 screws in the back of the TV, immediately above the stand. From the stand, they are at the 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, and 2:00 locations. If you remove the screw, and find a washer with the screw, then it's probably the right one. Once all 5 screws are removed, the stand slides right off the bottom. Unfortunately, once the stand is removed, the opening is left in the bottom. It's not too bad since once it's mounted to the wall, it's not high enough to see the bottom of the TV anyway. Good luck!
