What do i need for a computer to start burning or to creat a cd/mp3/dvd .

First you need music to put on the CD. You can put your own music CD in the drive and run Windows Media Player and rip them to your hard drive (copies them). After you get all the songs you want onto your hard drive, you can make an audio CD if you ripped the songs as WAV files (this CD can be played in most CD players) or you can make an MP3 CD if you ripped the songs as mp3 files (this CD can only be played in CD players that support the MP3 standard). To make the audio CD or MP3 CD, just download the free program called BurnAware from the internet and run it. Insert a blank recordable CD in your computer, choose Audio CD or MP3 CD, then choose the songs you want and burn the CD. That's it.

Burn a Data CD or DVD in Windows 7 Using Media Player

You can burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7 using Media Player. An audio CD can contain just approximately eight minutes of music. On the other hand, if you burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7 using Media Player, it will be able to hold numerous hours of music. Video files and pictures can also be added to the data discs.
When you burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7, the Windows Media Player does not transform the selected files to a different format prior to saving them to a blank data disc, so the files stay in the compressed condition. This allows you to put much more items on a single disc.As the format of the files is not changed, the quality of the files remains the same.

You can burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7 using Media Player as follows:
  • Click Start.
  • Click All Programs.
  • Select Windows Media Player.
  • Click the Burn tab in the Player Library.
  • Click Burn options and select Data DVD or CD.
  • Insert a blank disc into the CD or DVD burner of your computer.
  • Close the AutoPlay dialog box if it comes into sight.
  • Some people have more than one CD drive in their computer. If you have multiple CD drives in your computer too, select the one you would like to use in the navigation window.
  • Look for the songs you want to burn.
  • In order to make your burn list, drag the songs from the details pane in the center of the Player Library to the list pane which is on its right side.
  • You can also change the order of the items in the burn list by dragging them upward or downward in the list.
  • To remove a song from your list, simply right-click on the item and click on Remove from list.
  • After you finish making your list, click upon Start burn.
It can take a while to burn a data disc. If your selected items cannot fit in one disc, you also have the choice of burning the rest of the items to a different disc. A data DVD is not the same as a DVD-Video disc ex. the movie DVD you buy or rent from the store.

I have an HP Pavilion mx704 desktop PC 2005 model, and I can not burn music onto a CD. This computer has a CD burner, and when I start burn of the downloaded song, it says insert disk, I put a blank CD-R...

What OS and burn software are you using? Can you see the music files when you look at the file explorer on the computer (My Computer or Computer in Windows and double click on the optical drive)? Check if the disc has any scratches.

If you see the music listed on the optical disc, check if the disc was finalized. (Again in Windows Computer, right click on the optical drive and it should be an option if the disc hasn't been finalized.)

If there are no files on the CD-R, make certain that the disc isn't being formatted before you try the burn. (Formatting should only be done on R/W discs.)

If the music files are on the optical disc and the disc was finalized, your CD player is not tracking across the disc properly. Try a lens cleaner. It may need repair and I've never successfully repaired a CD drive (the only ones I've had fail were in computers and were cheaper to replace). The mirror and the belt are the most likely places to have issues.

I hope this helps.

I got my songs picked out on windows media player and was wondering how to get them copied on my iomega cd-rw

No problem. Just pop in a disc and in the windows media player there will be a tab that says burn. Just select the songs you want to copy and on the side it will tell you how much room you have on the disc. Usually you can put between 17-20 songs on one disc. When you are ready to copy, just hit burn and it will copy the songs onto the disc. During this time you can even listen to other music while it is doing that. Hope this helps. Oh also make sure your burner is set to record...to make sure this function is enabled right click on your cd-drive icon in My Computer. Click Properties. Find the box that says enable write recording and make sure it is checked otherwise you will not be able to burn any cd's. You only have to do this once. The computer will remember your settings each time you log on. Cheers.

I have just brought a new pack of blank CD's, i am

Its a common problem with CDs. Check that your CD drive can PLAY CDs. If so either the CD drives optical head is dirty or your CD pack are low quality. CDs damage real easy. Try putting another CD, another brand or you must use CD doctor-something like that. Did that help

I bought iTunes card, bought the songs i wanted, but it wont work

Your CD Drive may be just a CD/DVD reader Drive may not be able to burn onto CD/DVD,s my dads laptop cant, he gets same error when he trys, so he had to use a different cd/dvd burner on a desktop.

If you have a desktop or laptop and you are 100% sure it can burn to CD/DVD,s then i reccomend you get a program called "ULTRA ISO" it is shareware but allows burning up to 300mb per cd for free before it asks you to pay so as long as you keep cd files below a total of 300mb you,d never have to pay. if its actually ITUNES which is reporting the error then your CD/DVD drive may require its own software before itunes will reconise it as CD/DVD burner drive. windows media player can report this type of error also.

Cd burner

You may want to double-check the "error" message. Normally, when you insert a blank CD-R or CD-R/W you'll see a pop-up message that says something like, "you've inserted a blank CD. What program do you want to use to put something on it?" And then it will give a list of programs like Windows Media Player, Nero Burning ROM, Roxio, MyDVD, etc. The last two choices are "Open a writeable folder" and "Do nothing." The next to last, the open folder, option is the CD recording option for Windows. Once you've put copies of that data into the new window click on the "burn these files to disc" link on the left side or located under the File menu at the top of the window.

Now, if it truly is telling you that you have to insert a blank CD, then you may have one of two problems. Either the CD you're putting in is NOT actually blank or the drive is having problems recognizing the media. To test the first scenario, try the disc on another computer. If it's truly blank, then try uninstalling the CD burner from your Device Manager located in the Windows control panel. Double-click on the System icon > Hardware tab > Device Manager > click on the (+) symbol next to DVD/CD-ROM drives and then highlight your Sony CD burner > right-click and in the menu choose Uninstall. Reboot your system and let Windows redetect the drive and reinstall the drivers (You may want to have any install discs handy, just in case Windows asks for them, but not likely).

I hope that helps!
