I have a Whirlpool electric build in oven with self-cleaning feature. It is about 8 years old and we just used the self-cleaning feature for the first time last week. The oven was not that dirty, but something boiled over and we decided to self-clean. The self cleaning worked very well (2 1/2 hrs). The very next time we tried to used the oven, it wouldn't work. Everything seems to work, but the heating elements do not get hot. Any suggestions? Tim

We purchased a home this year and it had a Whirlpool double wall oven. My wife used the self cleaning function. After the cleaning cycle ended the top oven door remained locked and the electronic panel would not work.

Your thermal fuse or TOD mounted to the back of the oven went out during the self clean,it shuts off the power to the elements.
The oven must be removed from the wall to change this.

I used the self cleaning feature once on a built in oven. After that it doesn't work. Why?

I used the self clean feature on mine and found out, to late, that it gets so hot that it burns out some of the electrical components. I suggest NEVER use the self clean feature

I am in the process of cleaning my Whirlpool self cleaning oven and it seems like there should be about 2 hours left on the timer and when I came out to the kitchen the timer was off and the door is still...

most likely the safety latch got stuck from the super heat of the oven while cleaning. try tapping the latch with a screwdriver and hammer, spray a bit of wd-40 on it wont hurt. i believe the self cleaning on ovens is crazy, as the heat damages things, including the finish of the unit.

Whirlpool 27" wall oven. no heat after self clean

Self cleaning features are not recommended by most appliance technicians. The ovens are not constructed satisfactorily to expel the 1000 degree heat, Therefore the thermal fuses blow as well as other parts failures.
Remove the oven. Remove the rear panel. Replace the thermal fuse in the back of the oven. Use Easy Off next time.

Oven will not heat after self cleaning

We used the self cleaning feature on our RBS305 Built In Electric oven and afterwards it would not heat. replaced the Fuse-Thermal part Nr 9759243 (which is the new part number. (Shown as Nr 37 on the Parts list for the oven parts). Cut all Power to the oven off and it was very easy to pull oven out with help of my wife. Removed back, bought a new part for 49.55 plus tax. Put in new part, replaced back and oven works like new. I am a 73 year old senior so when I say it is fairly easy to replace you know it is. Hope this helps someone

Old Amana - no manual; can't operate self clean feature

Can you locate the model number on the oven? Also any particular name of the stove? The manufactured year. These should all be available on a stainless steel or aluminum attached plate , probably on the back of the stove or inside the door.
I wouldn't try using the self cleaning feature until we get some advice. it could lock up on you and not UNLOCK. Normally self cleaning takes place at 600 or more degrees .

I'm sure others still have the same stove., I will see what I can find for you.

How do you replace the thermostat?

You will need to pull the oven out of the wall and remove the back panel. The thermostat is located behind that panel and held in by two screws. Whirlpool makes a wire harness kit that can be installed which allows the fan to run longer preventing this problem from happening.
