Same problem Cracked in the very front right at the weld. Contacted maytag and the warrenty on this model is only one year, parts. After making some calls I can buy the drum 216-218 dollars + 300-400 to have it installed. I think I am gonna take a crack at doing it myself I am a mechanic any one else tried?

We just discovered the same problem. The drum is cracked at the seam in the very front of the drum. We are going to call tomorrow because I agree, this seems like a manufacturing defect to me. I'll post the outcome after we talk with Maytag.

We have the same problem. We purchased the dryer 12/05 and after the one yr warranty period, the drum split at the weld in the front. A piece of the drum actually broke off. My husband was able to put a screw through it with large washers on either side to cover the hole and has held up until recently. But now another crack is developing, probably from the original split. A much larger hole is forming, so our original solution will not work. I will not bother replacing the drum and will NEVER buy another Maytag product. We had an awful experience with a leaking dishwasher as well - at least that one was within the warranty period.

I had forgotten about my post until Fixya sent me an email. Maytag did nothing for us. We ended up purchasing a replacement drum and felt online and installed it ourselves. The only difficult part is taking all the screws out and getting everything back together. The drum and felt aren't difficult themselves to replace.

I just discovered the same problem. Crack went into the stainless steel drm and left a torn spot on the inside of drum where clothes catch and rip. Rady to join a class action suit for all the headaches Maytag has caused me.

I'm not sure about you, but I don't see how a crack in that part cannot be a manufacturer defect. I suggest to read carefully the warranty information from the user manual to verify what the warranty covers.
About trying to fix it, It will not be easy, you may need someone else to help you.

Good luck!

I need to replace the part of my Maytag dehumidifier (Model # M7DH45B2A AR) that triggers the motor to work - it sits across the back or middle of the right hand bucket and has a sort of paddle on it I...

Here's a link to where you can find the "doohickey" your looking for. It's really called an activation switch. There's also an exploded view of the parts for your model. Also, if you can't find it for Maytag, try Fedders. They make the same unit and actually made the one you have with the Maytag brand name on it. The model numbers will be almost identical. Juts drop the 'M' off the front.

Hope this helps with the part and the repair.

2 upper rack rollers cracked in Maytag #MDB7600AWS - cant find simple replacement rollers for inside track - 1 1/4" - of upper rack.

JP Weld works great on repairing these junky Maytag parts. Note that they don't have a replacement for these upper wheels and a guy is selling expensive stainless steel replacements. The round connector broke off of ours that holds the wheel to the rack. My wife found a plastic button that fit within the space and we glued it with JP Weld epoxy (water and temperature resistant). 10 washes later, still working great! I expect it will "heal" any other plastic parts. NEVER will I buy a Maytag again!

Karcher k2 power washer inlet-outlet manifold cracked along weld

well depends did u use it in cold tempatures if so no it was u. if not then most likely or could have been just a crazzy thought here that there was a electrical discharge when it was pluged in and cracked the block on it but honestly thats 1/10000000000000 chance of happening. or it overheated and cracked it but relistically if its new then just take it back and play dumb or if its still under warrenty play dumb and get it fixed. aslo u can search for a new part on craigslist or ebay. last but not least if its not uner warrenty or new to take back or u cant find a part either thru the ones i listed or by calling the man. ur last resort is to just throw it away.

Maytag Dryer MDG9700AWW has split into the metal drum at the seam

I'd say take the 50% off offer. Dryer drums are very thin, and a weld would most likely still make a thump noise every time it passed the drum supports. (two thumps per revolution) I've seen this on other brands which use thin stainless steel drums. (I didn't look up your model to see if the drum was SS or powder coated metal, or galvanized, or whatever) It is not a real common thing, but certainly not unheard of. I'd say it was indeed a poor weld, but the manufacturer's generally won't help much once it makes it past the warranty period. Don't bother rating this, as anything but a FixYa lowers my rating. Thanks.
