I can't receive skype video on my mac

I've been using skype on my mac notebook to talk to my girlfriend who is using a PC running Vista. She can always see me on video but I can't see her. When we first started I did see her on video on maybe a couple of occasions, but I can't get it to work at all now. The only way I get to see her is if she shares her screen with me, but this is very poor quality. The audio always works, although it can be very poor quality too sometimes. We both appear to have set up skype correctly in the skype settings to run video so why won't it work? Is it something to do with iChat maybe? My girlfriend has tried to video chat via her desktop and laptop, but neither work, so it must be a problem my end?

We've both got the latest version of skype (2.8.0.722 on mac and 4.1 on PC) and still cannot get video to work on my mac. Do we need to reinstall skype on either machine?

Hi there, I've just bought an Acer notebook ASPIRE 5750, windows 7 home office. Everything is ok, but softwares like speech recognition, skype and google talk, don't recognize my microphone...

You may have to disable the onboard microphone to use the connected hardware.
Realtek is very picky, same goes with speakers connected to the back and front at the same time, no sound. Disable the one you are not using.

Its my 6days and still i cant connect to my skype..it keeps saying skype cant connect....what should i do??please help me i cant talk to my husband without skype

First of all you need to quit Skype. If it's running you should see it's icon in the Start Bar in the lower right corner. Right-click it and choose Quit.
Then you should go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Windows Firewall (if you are using windows XP) and then go to Exceptions . Search for skype and delete it. After you've done this open Skype again and click Allow when the firewall dialog appears.
Let me know if this worked for you

When enter my log 0n I receive this message: Skype has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Window will close the program and.................. This happened...

Skype changed in the update. You probably have yours set to run in compatibility mode for Vista Service Pack 2. This crashes the program now. Only fix I've found is turning compatibility mode off, which sucks cause it won't minimize to tray. But it runs at least.

Windows Vista. Using Skype, the person on the receiving end can't hear me. If I am running iTunes on that computer, though, the recipient can hear the music, just not my voice. I can hear them.

Hi
Start skype. Choose the menu calls then sound settings, select the device through which to speak: web camera, if you are using a built-in microphone or any other bluetooth headset if you are using or external microphone

Go to Skype/Preferences/Video and make sure you choose "Automatically receive video from: Anyone who I allow to call me".
OR Simply choose the camera in Skype's Video preferences and use it! Couldn't be simpler

I bout a microphone at Target. The name is 'PC Microphone with Detachable Laptop Mic' and it is from General Electris. It says it is supposed to work on Vista, Mac, Linux and Messengers, such as Yahoo, MSN...

Be sure mic is plug in the right input (the pink one).
Then open sound properties (in vista search for sound in startup menu) and then configure and test your mic in the recording tab.
