Sharp carousel microwave, Model Number R-1505F, is not running. It stopped in the middle of heating something up; however, the light, clock, timer and fan all still work. Checked the circuit breaker and everything is fine there.

OMG, thank you sooooo much. I have this same microwave (8 years) and 2 days ago it stopped working. I decided to go online and "troubleshoot" before I purchased another one. I'm SOOOO glad I did. You saved me between $200-$300.

This is usually caused by either a bad bottom door switch or a loose bottom door switch mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If the switch mount is broken, it's usually more economical and safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.

We have a Sharp R-410 LK and it stopped working except for the clock and timer. The carousel doesn't work or anything else! Could a major part have gone out or could it be something simple?

I couldn't find the wiring diagram of this exact model, but looking at a similar model diagram, it appears that the main fuse in the oven has blown or a safety interlock has failed. The clock runs all of the time of course, and so it is powered by a branch circuit. The main fuse and interlocks protect the rest of the oven (and you!). The fuse could have failed because of temporary overload or because a critical component failed, in which case you would need some profession help. If the oven is fairly new, it may pay to enlist a service tech, because some critical failures involve relatively inexpensive parts. You may find it budget-worthy to take it to a shop you trust that does this service, rather than pay for a house call. Good service techs can usually track this problem down in a few minutes. Microwave circuitry is comparatively simple (but dangerous if you don't know what you are doing).

My over the stove Sharp Carousel Model # R-1505F turn table stopped turning. What part do I need to replace. Also, I broke the glass turn table plate. What size is that and where can I order another...

Sears Parts Direct has the parts diagrams and many parts for the R-1505 microwave. The glass plate is part 4-3 ($33.99) on this page: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Sharp-Parts/Microwave-Parts/Model-R1505/0958/0123370/50019999/00001?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= .

Without more tests, I can't be completely positive but the turntable motor is the likely problem. That is part 1-4 on the list above. However, it could be a wiring problem with the wiring to the turntable motor.

Partstore.com has many of the parts as well: http://www.partstore.com/Model/Sharp/Sharp/R1505.aspx .

I hope this helps.

Sharp carousel r-508ak - does not heat up the food

You probably have a defective magnetron or blown fuse supply power to magnetron.

Sharp Carousel Microwave Model R520-LK timer will run but carousel doesn't turn and food doesn't heat.

I also have the Sharp Carosoul oven, symptoms - fan runs, controls are fine but the turntable stopped turning and it did not heat. It was not the switches, fuse, but in fact a sagging door that misaligned with the door switches. The true cause was a warn top hinge. As a temporary fix, I adjusted the bottom hinge (3 screws underneath), straightened the door, and now it works again.

No heating, no clock, no timer, otherwise fine!

One of your door interlock switches is defective . I would suggest having it repaired by a qualified repair tech in your area.
