I am having small red dots show up in the middle of the screen. Some of time, when there is an outdoor sceen and the light is very bright you can't see the dots. H owever, when there is a scene where there is some darkness you can easily see the red dots. WHAT'S HAPPENING?

You have a set that was involved in a large class action lawsuit---the optical engines in this model had issues where they turned red or another color---little dots in picture is a classic optical light engine problem---last time I looked the part alone not counting labor was over 600 dollars.

Since you don't have any white lines with the red screen/picture I would say that the red bulb (CRT) is conducting too much. There is an adjustment control for that. The 'sceen' control is behind the speaker cover and service cover. Turn red screen control slightly to the left until you get a good black and white picture.
its sounds like the guns has burnt your yube, when switching of does your tv show a bright circle in the middel, or while watching. Smack your tv on the side while on see if the picture goes away or make a bright circle in the middel, this is caused by a bad solder joint but you wont get rid of the bunt pixels sorry.

I turn on the monitor, I hear a 'cracklin' sound Reply: In a CRT Monitor there is a component called EHT which generates High voltage which is connected to the anode of the CRT, If there is any leakage due to moisture can cause this crackiling sound, You need to clean this high tension wire or replace the EHT ( CAUTION : BE AWARE OF HIGH VOLTAGES )

The screen only shows a bright, thin line. Reply: The vertical Drive section of the monitor is faulty.
If the LCD screen is too bright or too dark, adjust the LCD Brightness setting in the Setup Menu.
If you are shooting photos outdoors in bright light, move the joystick to the icon showing the sun over shaowed area to turn on Outdoor mode and make the LCD screen easier to see in bright light.
