Messages ALL erased!

I came home one day 2 months ago, my ATT-1726 answerign machine had a blinking "CL". At first I thought it was just a power failure so I reset the clock. That done, I saw a big "0" which told me that ALL my 27 saved messages are gone permanently!
(NOTE: in order to erase msg, we have to press DELETE twice and I am 100% sure I did not press it even one).
Last week , the same thiing happens: CL was blinking, clock was reset, all saved msg were gone.
What happened?
Thank you.

The answering machine is supposed to save messages during a power failure. If the messages are gone, then the unit is defective.

You might try unplugging the AC power to the unit, let it sit for 5 minutes, and reconnect the power. That sometimes resets the unit to the factory default. You can then reprogram.

1726 does not record messages

System will not record messages

When memory is full, saved messages must be deleted before new messages can be recorded.

If RO (announce only) is selected, no messages will be recorded.

Record Your Announcement

You must record your announcements (A, b,C and RO) one at a time.

1 Select the announcement you wish to record.

2 Press and hold "ANNC/SKIP". When the system beeps, speak toward the microphone normally, from about nine inches away.

Power failure message.

Power Failure Recovery

If the system is disconnected from the AC power it will not operate. Your announcemen and messages are retained in memory during a power failure but you will need to reset the clock. See the instructions on the bottom of the unit. If the message window displays CL, you need to reset the clock. See the instruction on the bottom of the unit.

Please help me

I have ATT VOIP service. You are probably recording your messages on your ATT voicemail. Change the # of rings for the voice mail to pick to more than the answering machine picks up. You have to get into your account and look for the section that allows you to do that.
