I have a security keypad lock on my nokia 5310

just go to your phone settings and select security option and then there will be key pad lock option and like sim lock option just give your code and imply it you can use both the ways but if you want strict then sim lock option is better

When you place a new or a existing SIM card from another phone provider into your mobile phone and it asks for a Security code then :-
This phone is locked to the original mobile phone provider. You need to contact this mobile provider to ask for the unlock code (security code) for this phone. You need to provide proof of ownership etc and the phone's unique IMEI number which is located inside the phone under the battery. They use this number to generate the unlock code for your phone.
They should provide you with instructions on how to enter this code into the phone.
Once you unlock the phone, then you can insert a new SIM card in this phone or sign up with another phone provider using this phone.
You could ring the phone provider and ask for the unlock security code because you are going overseas and wish to use your phone with a prepaid SIM card from another country. This maybe a free service.
The other way to get your phone unlock is to use a phone unlocking company on the Internet, they usually charge a couple of Dollars for their services. Use Google and search for "Security unlocking code” in your area.

Keypad lock (keyguard) from page 29 in your manual:
To prevent the keys from being accidentally pressed, select Menu, and press *
within 3.5 seconds to lock the keypad.
To unlock the keypad, select Unlock, and press *.
To answer a call when the keyguard is on, press the call key. When you end or reject the call, the keypad automatically locks.

Security code from page 17 in your manual:
The security code (5 to 10 digits) helps to protect your phone against
unauthorized use. The preset code is 12345. To change the code and set the phone to request the code, see Security p. 80.

Hi Nazia,

I guess you want to lock you phone so that others should not be able to use it without your permission. If this is correct you can perform the following steps:
Open > Settings > Security > Security Level > select Phone, Enter default code "12345" , Click back, Select Access codes, Select change security code, Enter the default code, You will be prompted to Enter new security code, Select the code of your choice, That's it You are all set

When you phone's keypad is locked no-one can open it without putting the correct security code.
