Usually, most printer driver need to be installed first BEFORE plugging the printer itself to the computer. Are you sure you have installed the driver before plug the printer? Or perhaps you do the otherwise?

If you installed the driver after plug in the printer, you must remove the driver first, unplug the printer then reinstall the driver and follow the instruction on the installation.

Make sure all the scanning settings are correct first then set everything first before you preview image then hit scan.
make sure the size is correct drag the image on the prview screen make ths dotted lines frame your image then scan
remember you tell the machine what to do by setting it, if you dont the machine trys to do thevscan its self. Good luck, have fun

these are obviously from the epson webpage under model rx500 it might be a 500 series?
they do not list the rx520 specifically....

try to download epson scan from the website www.epson.com and then look for the updated version of epson scan. read the details and add ons that will greatly help you with your desired scanning operation

Instead of people just posting links to websites and instruction manuals or general drivers, it it more helpful to answer the question.
The resolution to the issue of not being able to scan A4 directly from the RX520 is that you can't do it from the printers control panel. You need the software, Epson Scan. For other machines/OS versions you may need to navigate around this part of Epson's site. You can also use their free chat facility to speak with an agent. It's very good

Pls check for updated driver for scanner on support.epson.com, because i believe that this printer doesn't have a wireless scanner server so the scanner will not work wirelessly.

try copying a page and see if that works

that will prove the unit is not faulty

if that works unplug the printer uninstall the printer software restart the computer reinstall the printer software and plug the printer in when asked.

if copy doesnt work the unit is most likely faulty

My epson rx520 has also the same problem.
Cant find a solution anywhere.
