Video cards are causing 3 beeps

When I put the stock card in my HP m8120n it works, but the card is terrible. When I change to either me ATI or Nvidia card I get 3 beeps in the post test. There is no way both of them went bad at the exact same time, when the nvidia one wasn't in a pc, and my ati was working just days ago.

I had the computer running with the ATI Radeon 3870 and the Nvidia 8800 GTS before that. One day my computer froze and so I powered down and started up again. But in the post test it did 3 beeps. I tried using the Nvidia card again but same thing. I then decided to try the original card that came with the computer, no idea what it is, and it turns on fine. So I tried the other ones again, no luck. I have cleaned the pc several times with compressed air/vacuum/brush and still nothing.

Both of them go at the same time? Isn't that a little weird, especially since the nividia has been sitting in its box? How do I reset the video card?

Did you try disabling the on board graphics in the bios? Look for lint, dust, or debri in the slot. If you can check the voltage at the video card connection from the power supply.

The 3 short beeps indicates a video card memory problem.
The video card uses video RAM that is part of the video card. Try reseating the video card and if the problem is not resolved then the fault is the video card and it needs to be replaced.

You could have two faulty video cards. There is nothing on the video card to reset.

Does the motherboard had a built-in video? If so go into the BIOS and disable the on-board video, then insert the video cards to see if it works.

Try to borrow another video card to see if it works, if not you could have a faulty AGP slot in the computer, you may have to go for an older PCI video card.

My geforce 8200 can not play fifa 11

Your graphics card is below the game minimum requirements (see link below) I would guess that this was a Dell, HP or other, and yours is basically a stripped down card with missing features, less memory etc. (which is why FIFA doesn't work) Your game also requires shader model 3.0, which will be present in all retail video cards on the list below.

From my information source site:
" Please note that NVIDIA GeForce 7300,8100,8200,8300 and 9300, ATI Radeon HD3200, HD4350, and Intel / S3 integrated chipsets are below minimum system requirement ."
http://gamesystemrequirements.com/games.php?id=956

If this is a desktop system, you can upgrade your video card to one of the following chipsets (video card series)
"Recommended Chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce® 6xxx series (6800 or greater) NVIDIA GeForce® 7xxx series NVIDIA GeForce® 8xxx series NVIDIA GeForce® 9xxx series NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 2xx series ATI Radeon X1600 (X1600 or greater) ATI Radeon X1800 ATI Radeon X1900 ATI Radeon X1950 ATI Radeon HD 2xxx series ATI Radeon HD 3xxx series ATI Radeon HD 4xxx series.
If you need help choosing a new video card, please repost your question and include the make (Dell, HP, etc. or white box) and model #. If this is a DIY project then please include as much information as possible about the mainboard, what version of windows, power supply, etc..

Once you know what you need I would check out newegg.com for video cards. They will have what you need at the best prices...

Feel free to contact me directly if you would like continued help with this.

Well first off does the HP have the lastest bios? Does the hp enough amps on the 12v line to support the card? I do know I had a video card once that had a conflict with my bios so, if it all else fails sell the card, and buy a ati one since it seems like ati works. But first try all the above.

I need a list of compatible video cards for an hp pavilion a1220n, can any one help?

Hello,

I would recommend Nvidia graphics card.
It is one of the best, and compatible with your computer.
I would recommend one of the most recent models.
Check with your local computer shops and they will assist you in getting a good recent model.

Thank you for using Fixya,
Kenneth.

I have a HP dc7600 SFF. Tried to Install 2 graphics cards no vid

The dc7600 SFF only comes equipped with a 240 watt power supply. I think this may be causing your problems.

I am currently looking for a graphics card for the same comp with the HIS ATI HD 4350 in mind, but the website states that a 300 watt power supply is recommended.

My game wont work, it is Star Wars KOTON2

The mobility series from ATI Radeon are not suported by the game... i know that not even KOTOR 1 works with mobilyty cards. That is a thechnical problem you have due to the video chip. You can try to change it but since it is a mobility series it means you have a notebook computer... you will have some hard days rtying to find a video card for a notebook. Try at a repair center for laptops, maybe they have a solution. Note that the MOBILITY ans nVidia Geforce GO are not supported by many games... it's not worth it to mention that INTEL GMAs Graphic Cards are absolete for gaming. Try a ATI HD series or better an nVidia Geforce 7600GT 7800GT 8600GT or better. THe game works even on ATI 9200 and nVidia FX 5200 but there were never put in notebooks
