I'm having the same problem.. Toshiba Satellite® M115-S1061 will boot up and just freezes at the Toshiba startup screen with the option to push f2 or f12.. but will not go into system utilities or boot menu. After BIOS shadowed and Video Shadowed..nothing happens.

Well, that happend to my mom's computer and it was all working and was turned on but the image on the screen didn't show so I'm not sure how to fix it but I think you should send it to repair the same happend to my TV and it was sounding but didn't see the screen so I think the best thing you should do is sen it to repair or drop it off at Best Buy
Your really pushing the lower minimum requirement limits if you're trying to use Ubuntu 11 or Ubuntu 12. Especially with your on-board graphics chip which borrows system ram.
probably the hard drive in your laptop is gone.
try booting ubuntu in live mode, so without installing it.
when the boot is completed, launch the tool gparted and see if it detects the hard drive: if it doesn't, you need to change the hard disk..
Turn on your laptop and look at the first screen that comes up as soon as it is on. This screen will tell you "Press x key to enter setup", replacing "x" with the actual BIOS access key. It's usually "Del" or "F2" on Toshiba systems.
2
Press the key firmly and quickly before the screen goes away. If you do not react quickly enough, you will miss the window of opportunity to enter the BIOS. On Toshiba systems, this window of opportunity is somewhere between two to five seconds.
3
Navigate your BIOS configuration screen to the "Boot" tab. It is usually just before "Exit."
4
As the first boot device, select "USB," or "USB HDD." If you have a "USB ZIP" option, you might be able to boot from it, so select that if you have no other choice.
5
Press the button for "Save and Exit" in your BIOS. The correct button is usually F10.
First of all Turn of your laptop.
Now this time when you turn on your laptop start tapping F8 Key on you keyboard when you Toshiba logo. Tap F8 key for at least 5-6 times.
You will get a Windows Advance Option Menu.
You will see lot of options over their written in white text. Your mouse will not work on this screen. Use UP and DOWN arrow keys on you keyboard and highlight Last known good configuration. Once highlighted press enter on it. See if you computer boots. If it boots try doing a restore.
If it doesn't boot.
Turn off your computer and then turn on your computer. On Toshiba Logo screen tap F8 key once again and go to windows advanced option menu screen once again and this time hightlight Disable automatic restart on system failure. Now when you see Blue screen coming up on your computer once again your computer won't restart. Now you can write down the information to trace out the blue screen that is occurring on your computer. Write down the Error code which will be in form of STOP 0x000000XX, you find this error code somewhere at the bottom of the blue screen.
Once you get the reply here, we will see what we can do.
No, it is not hopelessly broken. I would suggest this: When you start it, get into safe mode. Do this by tapping on the F8 key soon after you turn it on. When you see the white menu on a black screen, choose safe mode and let it start. Once it starts, you can do the troubleshooting. In your case, I would suggest doing a system restore back a few days when you know it was working. That should do it.
Is your screen blank when you are trying to turn it on? Do the fans run and such but nothing shows up? If not then I don't know.. but if it is put you laptop in the freezer for an hour. Mine had that problem, but you won't be able to turn it off... ever again... because then it won't start up again. I would suggest to check this out as well if it is that problem. http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f108/toshiba-nb200-wont-boot-492391.html
if unable to turn on the screen just lights flashing RAM is faulty try replacing it , if u have two chips try installing one by one see if it helps
or
if it shows some text on screen and try to boot and u can access bios then
ur OS has corrupted two reasons for that
1. due to virus, malware spyware, etc 2. Hard Disk is getting weak wants replacement
solution first try to re install the OS if u find it difficult to do so then my friend ur hard disk needs replacement
factory reset procedure
Toshiba:
BEFORE TURNING ON THE LAPTOP, press and hold the 0 (zero) button on the
keyboard, then turn on the computer while holding the 0 (zero) button
down. When the Toshiba logo screen appears, you can release the 0 key.
try taking the hard drive out then switch it on without it then switch it back off, put the hard drive back in then it should work, if not try f8 then safe mode and do a system restore
