HI. in most cases, this will lead to a failed Heating device(magnetron tube). It would be wise to check the Magnetron cutoff fuse to be sure of its integrity. if the fuse is blown, simply replace it. if the fuse continues to show continuity, replace the magnetron.

(((The fuse is located inside the unit along side the magnetron)))

My microwave no longer heats anything and also makes a really loud buzzing sound when i attempt to use it.

The problem is most likely caused by a defective magnetron that "heats the food" is loading down the high voltage transformer causing it to make a loud buzzing sound. The cost to repair (depending on make and model) will probably approach the cost of a new microwave oven when you factor parts and labor.

Microwave taking much longer to heat food

The microwaves are produced by what is known as a KLYSTRON TUBE. Like anything, early failure is possible. There is also the possibility that the transformer or electronic circuit providing the correct voltage to the KLYSTRON has failed, either from over-use, manufacturing defect, or leakage from the KLYSTRON enclosure, which creates heat.
With microwaves being as CHEAP as they are, replacement should not be an issue.

Low power, takes much longer to heat anything than it used to.

Longer heating times may indicate a magnetron tube that is old.

Microwave ovens beam their energy in the form of an inverted cone thus most of the energy falls in a circle outside of the center.

Move your article to be heated to the outside of the oven and use more of whats left of the dwindling heating source.
