Your MyBook has a choice of connections, either USB or firewire. You only want to connect the USB. Perhaps someday, you will want to connect to a computer with a firewire port, but without an available USB port, and your MyBook will be able to.

USB Port in computer catches fire and melts! Please help! Motherboard still fine.

That is most unusual as the ports are 12Volts DC. The only way that can happen is if the Plus and Minus power from the output transformer cross and pair up. That can happen if the USB cable is defective and the two main wires in the cable touch each other. This is known as a short circuit. It is possible that the USB Port is not damaged, just the cable. If the computer is operating OK, then no damage was done to the internal parts and only the USB cable and perhaps the Port may have suffered. Incidentally, all you needed to do was unplug the power cord to the computer to power down.

Does my insignia ns-p501q-10a have a usb port?

Looking at the manual for the NS-P501-10Q from the product site, http://www.insigniaproducts.com/products/televisions/NS-P501Q-10A.html , the TV has a USB port labeled "Service" on the back above the other input ports and on the left side of the input/output area. Unfortunately, I don't think it will provide enough power for an Amazon Fire stick. It's for updating the firmware on the TV with a data file on a small flash drive.

I'd suggest using an appropriate USB wall charger to power the Fire stick.

I hope this helps.

When I connect My Samsung VP-D77i Camcorder to my Laptop I always get a message saying "cant open camera device". My Laptop does not have a fire wire port but only with USB ports. It has Windows 7 Pre

First, try attaching the camcorder via usb cable with the camera OFF, then turning it on. This may trigger Windows to activate the driver scanner and activate the driver. If you've been attaching with camcorder off, try attaching with it on, to see if that activates driver installation.

If that doesn't work, you may have a low-power usb plug; often the usb ports in the back of the computer put out more juice than the handy ones on the front. You may also need a shorter and more robust usb cable; I've found with various cameras and phones that certain usb cables work fine for recharging but won't necessarily provide adequate data transfer.

My Kindle Fire will not start

If you last charged it with the computer USB port, try charging with the supplied AC adapter instead. If you last charged with the computer USB port, try charging with the AC adapter this time. This will help isolate a bad AC adapter / power cord or USB cable / USB port.

It is important to note that if you are charging your Kindle via USB port on a computer, when many computer enters "sleep mode" the USB power is shut off at this time too. Charging is effectively halted - even though still connected. You should only expect to charge while the computer is active or when using the AC adapter.

You can also purchase an aftermarket DC charger. These are small plugs that are inserted into your auto's port or cigar lighter. They provide 1 or 2 USB connectors to plug in a USB cable. These devices are suitable to supply / charge just about any devices that uses a computer's USB port to power / charge a device. They cost anywhere from $5 and up and look something like this:

Connect A JVC GR D31 Camcorder to a Computer Via USB 2

Well I'm afraid not the cable don't not come in such of a way either cause they are different type of cable, but what u can do is buy an external fire wire card for yr PC it comes in PCI format for yr desktop PC. because camcorder in these days do not use USB cables due to the cause that fire wire cable is much faster than the USB ones.

How do I downloard pics from my Samsung SC-D6550 Camcorder?

Are you using a Video Camera? If so, you need a Fire Wire cable, not a USB cable. You can get Fire Wire Cables at Radio Shack or any store that sells electronics.
