The picture shows to plug in the power cord--the USB cable-- and the fire wire cable. My Dell doesn't not have an available Fire wire connection. I have a Dsl and a router plugged in the back. DO I NEED BOTH?

Your external drive has a choice of USB or firewire, so only connect with the USB cable.

USB Port in computer catches fire and melts! Please help! Motherboard still fine.

That is most unusual as the ports are 12Volts DC. The only way that can happen is if the Plus and Minus power from the output transformer cross and pair up. That can happen if the USB cable is defective and the two main wires in the cable touch each other. This is known as a short circuit. It is possible that the USB Port is not damaged, just the cable. If the computer is operating OK, then no damage was done to the internal parts and only the USB cable and perhaps the Port may have suffered. Incidentally, all you needed to do was unplug the power cord to the computer to power down.

My firestick is frozen on home page

If yourAmazon Fire TV displays normally but you aren’t able to use any controls, first try troubleshooting the remote. For more information on troubleshooting the remote, go to Can't Pair a Fire TV Remote or Game Controller.
Restart your device. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the device or from the power outlet, and then plug it back in.
You can also use your remote to restart your device. Press and hold the Select Select Button
and Play/Pause Play/Pause Button
buttons at the same time, for about five seconds. Or, select Settings > Device > Restart from the Fire TV menu.

Make sure that you are using the power supply provided with your Amazon Fire TV device. Connect the included power adapter into the power port on the back of your Fire TV, then plug the other end into a power outlet.
For Amazon Fire TV (1st and 2nd Generation), make sure that you are using a High Speed HDMI cable, if needed. The cable should say "High Speed", "1.3", or "1.4" on it. Plug one end of your HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the back of your Amazon Fire TV, then plug the other end into an available HDMI port on your TV. For Fire TV Stick, make sure that you use the included HDMI extender.
If you are using an HDMI hub, disconnect your Amazon Fire TV device from the hub and try plugging it directly into the TV.
Try switching to a different HDMI port on your television. Remember which HDMI port you used to connect your Amazon Fire TV device and switch to the corresponding input channel on your TV.

My Kindle fire won't move past the start up "kindle fire" screen. what is wrong and how do I fix it?

Hello

Reset the Device:
If your Kindle Fire won't move, this doesn't necessarily mean that it's "broken" or has a major problem. The Kindle Fire has a tendency to become "stuck," meaning that it looks like it's "off" when it's actually "on" but it will not work properly because it's locked up. To unlock the Kindle Fire, do a reset by holding down the power button for 20 seconds or more. Then turn the device back on by hitting the power button again. If this doesn't work the first time, try holding the button down for 30 seconds or more. Most of the time, this will be all you have to do to get the Kindle Fire up and working again.

Charge It:
If resetting doesn't work, it's possible that your battery is dead. Try plugging the Kindle Fire into the charger and wait about 15 minutes before trying to turn it on again. If the device refuses to start up, try resetting it again.
If it still won't move, it's possible that you have a dead charging cable. Alas, the cables that come with the Kindle Fire are not known for their longevity. Try charging the tablet with another cord that has a Micro USB connection and see if the device responds. There's no guarantee that the charging cord from your smartphone will work with the Kindle Fire, but it's worth a try. If you get a bit of a charge, then you'll know that your Kindle Fire needs a new charging cable.

Try a Different Power Source:
if the charging cable appears to be working but the tablet still won't move, try plugging it into a different power outlet or the USB port on your computer.
If all of these troubleshooting tips fail, your Kindle Fire may have a hardware problem that requires professional help.

Just purchased a Kindle Fire HD7. Start up instructions say to charge battery by plugging device into power adapter via USB cord. Is there another way to charge device since I have no plug which fits the...

An adapter should have come with your Kindle Fire HD7 when you purchased it. The USB 2.0 cord is universal, so you could plug it into your computer and charge it that way also (while the computer is on).

I am assuming that you checked to make sure you had all the parts. Included in the Box Fire HD 7 tablet, USB 2.0 cable, 5W power adapter, and Quick Start Guide

How to get footage from a sony handy cam on to a PC

Sony does not support older camcorders that worked with USB on XP but no longer work with either firewire or USB on Vista. The work around I've used on Vista is to only install the Sony driver which is available from http://support.sony-europe.com/dime/downloads/downloads.aspx?&f=usbdrven_vista&site=odw_en_GB You only need the Sony driver to use another programme to capture the video. FX Vidcap works well on Vista via USB. http://www.jhepple.com/video_capture_software.htm

Is there a separate power cord?

here is the link for the user manual; http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/PRN720/en/OM/720_English.pdf Page 11 states that there is a seperate power cord, and shows the connection port. Unfortunately there is no picture of the power cord itself, it may be a standard cord alone, or it may include a power transformer - the manual is unclear. All the contact details for dell are included in the manual, or contact them on; http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/contact_us?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn Hope this helps :)
