The songs may be stored anywhere, but they are displayed in gallery. To hear them one by one you just go to gallery->music/tracks/songs-> andselect the song. It will be automatically be played by music player. Then there is a PlayList. In this you put your favourite songs in a particular order and just start it and songs will be played one after the other. To make a PlayList you must open the Tracks folder and then select songs and from options go to Add To PlayList.

I can hear my music that I've had downloaded onto

You should reset your player. Go to the Settings menu, then System, then Reset Settings. You may wish to erase the current contents of the player and perform a new sync. Remember to back up your files first if needed! More details can be found in the owner's manual.

I can't find my songs or hear them

I came across the same problem with my Muvo V100. It appears that the unit has a folder access limit of some kind (seems to be 24 folders not sure what detrmines the ones it chooses). I synch with Windows media player and it creates a folder called Music in the root. Within that folder it places sub folders named for the band that the music is from. Within those folders it creates yet further sub folders with the name of the CD the music came from and then finally within those it places the MP3 or WMA files. It appears there may be too many sub folders for the Muvo to be able read all the music. I took all of the MP3 and WMA files and pulled them out to the main Music folder. I then deleted all of the sub folders named for the bands and the albums. When I start the Muvo now it allows access to all of the songs. There may be a way within Windows media player to configure the synch so it doesn't create all of these sub folders. I've not checked. If it is then it would eliminate the manual work of pulling the music files out to the main Music sub folder.
