There is a little pin hole on cover that comes out or tray. Open up thin tiny paper clip and insert into small pin hole on front of CD and as you push it in tray will start to pop out .

I hit the eject button and the drawer opened, but my disc was not there

It will take the removal of the CD drive and opening the case to dislodce the CD from the spindle.

I bought a brand new Asus F551M laptop and after a day of using it the laptop just turned off without warning and won't turn back on

Did you charge it properly? Was the battery sign overlooked? If no such case is there, call authorized service center.

How does dvd,cd seat in optical drive drawer?

Label side up, press the disc onto the hub in the center of the open tray. it will snap into place. (Be sure to support the tray, as some discs press harder than others, and you don't want to break the tray.) Slide tray into laptop.

Removing the disc is done by pressing the eject button, sliding the tray out, then grasping the outer edges of the disc, and pulling up, while simultaneously pressing down on the hub with your index finger.

Cannor Read DVDs

I have a similar issue to you, except that my dvd drive will only recognize a disc if I have booted up into windows with it in the tray...once in windows it will still think it has the first disc in no matter what disc i insert. If i boot up with no disc then it will never read it unless I follow the steps below.

A solution I found by pure frustration and trying all sorts of things is to eject the DVD tray and leave it opened, then right click on the dvd drive in 'my computer' and select the 'hardware' tab...then select the drive and click 'properties'.
A new window should open. Select 'volumes' and click 'populate'. Now close the window and insert the disc you wish to read, close the tray and repeat this process. Windows should now recognize the disc you inserted

Alot of trouble I know, but it works for me. Hope this helps.
