Brightness issue What I have: Two pc's,(XPro&Ubuntu), two Acer Al1916 19" monitors, What I did: turned pc's on - then turned on monitors from wall power switch, one monitor is now >50% dimmer then the other. Have reset it multiple times and also swapped the monitors from one pc to the other. It's definitely the monitor that's dim and not a pc setting.  Is there some way to reset the monitor to default settings other then the menu option reset?

Thanks, did try that but no change. Eventually called Acer and they shipped it and repaired it. Took about 2 weeks over Xmas which I thought was pretty good, got my monitor back and working now for no cost as still under 2 year warranty. I give Acer support and repairs a thumbs up!

Cannot view some webpages with acer p205h on ubuntu

This is unlikely to be a monitor issue, more likely a browser issue.
Please ensure you have the latest version of Ubuntu, Firefox and/or Google Chrome.
If this does not solve it, let us know which web pages you're having trouble with so we can take a look.

My acer makes a whining noise whenever its brightness is set to low how can i fix it?

that buzzing noise is frequency response from the cathodes (back lights) and the inverter inside that monitor.

Personally, i'd keep the brightness up a bit more to alleviate the issue. I'd also check to see if the power that is going to the device is clean. Sometimes there can be issue with power causing frequency disturbance and can cause some pretty random issues with power sensitive devices.

Try running a battery backup or power strip to see if it helps.

I have a Acer-AM5641-E5650A desktop and loaded Ubuntu Linux, it comes up but not able to use keyboard or mouse. I suspect I need drivers for USB devices, can you point me to a source and part...

it is quite difficult to install anything without mouse and keyboard.
try to use PS2 mouse or keyboard, it would have to work just fine, after that connect your USB devices, and it just might load the drivers need by it self

Power supply on 17" acer monitor

franh, Typical of a lcd/fpd monitor! There is nothing you or hundreds of others can do to repair it all by yourself. I have repaired 3 monitors and helped tutor 2 others on fixya with their monitors. All had same exact symptom as your monitor. I need you to do a simple test for me. With failed Acer monitor near to your Fully Booted PC with a known good desktop being displayed on back-up monitor, quickly swap out the monitor cables from the back of the PC. Keep touching the CTRL key on you keyboarb every 30-50 seconds to keep the PC from sending out sleep mode command to monitor while doing the reconnect of acer to your PC monitor output port. Make sure the Acer also is connected to a live wall outlet/power strip. Turn on the Acer and note what happens. If screen shows a sharp clear image for a second, then goes black, do the following. Get a bright flashlight and shine it on the screen from a distance of 1 or 2 inches and tell me if you can see the desktop display. get back to me with your observations. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aol.com.

Power issue

See if your video card inside your PC hasn't come loose. Take it out and push it back in again to reseat the card. Then, once it's firmly secured, try the monitor.
