Updated my FineDrive 400 to Aug 2006 data and now maps are gone
I updated my FineDrive 400 to Aug 2006 map data and OS (from 2005). The OS upgrade seems to have been successful, but now it can's find the maps. I put them in the root directory of the SD card filesystem. This is what's on the SD card:

FineDrive 400's were manufactured by Navman, but are not supported anymore in any fashion, no updated maps, no op system upgrades, no Windows drivers or anything. If and when it malfunctions, you may be forced to get another unit.
its impossible to email or post online due to the size of a couple of the files. I created a new dvd with instructions and automatically loading firmware update and are selling these on ebay for basically the cost of labor and materials, fine digital used to get $150 for an upgrade dvd... if you search ebay for finedrive dvd you should see it.
The other solution was to send it to Fine Digital but they closed their doors in the US so they no longer support us customers. Because of this I made a DVD with map data I purchased from them before they closed and I added much better instructions; this DVD updates the firmware in the unit and loads the last map data issued to the SD card. you would need a PC with a DVD drive and SD card reader to use it. you can find these DVDs on ebay for $18 which basically covers my costs only.
Finedrive is no longer selling the FD400 in the us and provide no support so getting an update from them is no longer possible. one dealer sells an upgrade disk for $150
I made a DVD that I sell on ebay (search for finedrive dvd) for basically the cost of labor and materials, it updates the firmware and map data to the last version issued (2007) for this mode. you need a PD, SD card reader and good DVD drive to do the update, instructions are included...
the issue may be compatability, some of the early AV versions do not work with this upgrade, Also, the site I posted these at put new limitations on file sizes and types and I can no longer post these online.

you may be able to restore the old system, there should be an update program on the original sd card. to get to it you have to run windows ce by holding the lower right key (i think) while booting...
sure did, the site also changed its policies. I have instead started lising the upgrade DVD cheap on ebay. it has the upgrade files, map data and instructions... and its cheap. finedrive used to send you to a site that charged $150 for this upgrade... now they are gone..
