Hit Ctrl/Alt and up-arrow key. (It's possible to re-orient the display with the top at the top, bottom, right or left of the screen by pressing Ctrl/Alt up-arrow, Ctrl/Alt down-arrow, Ctrl-Alt right-arrow or Ctrl/Alt left-arrow.)

Replace lcd on gateway NV57h77u

I disagree. The procedure is so easy no Service Manual is needed

1) Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter, and Battery.

2) Open the laptop.

The plastic frame in front of the LCD screen is the Display Bezel.
(Gateway? Believe they call it the LCD Panel Bezel)

Down in the BOTTOM corners, next to the Hinges, are screws to be removed. One in each bottom corner.

There are Screw Covers over these screws. The Screw Covers need to be removed.
Little round covers I believe to be made of plastic.
(Some models they are made of synthetic rubber)

I use a computer pick to Gently remove them.
Some use the tip of an X-Acto knife. I do not recommend this as there is a possibility of injury.
Perhaps a large darning needle. (Needle you sew with, but is Large in size)

Pick up at one edge of Screw Cover. Screw Covers are held on by a type of rubber cement.
I LIGHTLY stick them to the Display Bezel for safekeeping.

(Yes. They like to stick to the tool, your fingers, and it seems passing jets in the sky.
If you are careful with them, you should be able to reuse them.
If they do not stick anymore, use a toothpick, and apply a TINY dab of rubber cement to them/it )

Once the Screw Covers are removed use a No.1 Philips screwdriver, or equivalent Jewelers screwdriver; to remove the 2 screws.

The Display Bezel has TABS going around the exterior perimeter, of it's inside edges.
These Tabs snap into matching LATCHES on the Display Cover.

You can come from the Outside edge, where the Display Bezel meets the Display Cover, and use a thick guitar pick.

The guitar pick is wedged into the parting line, of where the Display Bezel meets the Display Cover.

Once a 'crack' is formed in-between the two, then the fingertips are used to gently start popping the bezel from the cover.

You slowly go along with your fingertips, and work along the top, then sides. By the time you have both sides almost loose, the Display Bezel usually pops off.

I like the flex method.
Come to the inside edge of the Display Bezel.
Where it meets the LCD screen. I suggest start on the Right side/Middle.

Use a fingertip, and lift up the inside edge of the Display Bezel up a little. Can't lift up at that spot? Move over. You are at a Tab/Latch.

With this spot lifted up a little, use the fingertip of the other hand, and slide under next to it.
Now use your fingertips as wedges, and pop the Display Bezel loose a little at a time.

I start at the Right side/Middle as stated. Left hand fingertips go DOWN the right side, Right hand fingertips go UP the right side.
Then I go across the Top, and down the Left side.

MOST of the time, as stated; the Display Bezel usually pops off when right side, and left side are most of the way popped loose.
NOT always though!

Sometimes you have to pop EACH and EVERY Tab/Latch loose.

Also; watch around the Hinge area/s.
Display Bezel can get hung up around them.
Go slow, and gently work the Display Bezel off, around the Hinge areas.

Display Bezel popped off, sit back; relax. You just did the hard part.
Wasn't so tough, huh?

This is what the Display Bezel looks like removed,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gateway-NV57H15U-LCD-Front-Bezel-15-6-AP0HJ00021-/171020787909?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d1a220c5

The MAIN view shown is a BACK view.
In the smaller views underneath, the 4th view from the Left, shows the FRONT view.

If you SET your mouse cursor in the middle of the Main view photo, the Zoom In feature is enabled.
You can CLICK on any of the smaller views, to make them appear as a Main view.

You can also see that the Hinge Covers, are an integral part of the Display Bezel. Shows you that when removing the Display Bezel, these Hinge Covers may need to be worked off of the Hinges.

Of course, may not; as I have previously stated.

The LCD screen is an Assembly. It is composed of layers.
These layers are kept in the factory set alignment, by a metal Screen Frame.
The Screen Frame resembles a picture frame.

There are THREE screws on each side of the Screen Frame.
These screws (Philips) go through metal Brackets, and hold the LCD screen/Screen Frame; to the Display Cover.

The Brackets are an integral part of the Hinges,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gateway-NV55-NV57-LCD-Left-Hinge-Rail-Bracket-AM0HJ000100-/400334888754?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d35d19f32

On EACH side, there is 1 screw towards the Top, 1 screw towards the Bottom/Middle, and 1 screw towards the Bottom.

Remove all 6 screws.

At the Top is the Webcam Cable. Unplug it from the Webcam Module.
(Cable pulls to LEFT side, facing laptop)

The TOP of the LCD screen is now tilted forward.
The Video Cable plugs into the Bottom side.

There should be a piece of clear Mylar tape, holding the Video Cable connector in place. Carefully peel it back, unplug the Video Cable from the LCD screen.

Remove the LCD screen.

Reverse steps to install new LCD screen.

How to replace a ccfl backlight bulb on presario cq60-419wm

Whoa!

Let's talk for a minute..........

CCFL = Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp. (Bulb)
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses; but on a MUCH smaller scale.

Average thickness is 2mm. That is a little thicker than 1/16th of an Inch.
Or about the width of this capital -> O <-

Average length is almost as long, as the LCD screen is in height.

Just like it's larger 'cousins', it has Mercury in it. A POISON.

Point?
They break VERY easily, and have Mercury inside.

I usually suggest changing the LCD screen itself, to replace a Backlight.

More expensive?
YES
If you are talking about price of LCD screen compared to a CCFL bulb.

SAFER?
YES
There is NO price for a human life.

The plastic frame in front of the LCD screen is the Display Bezel.

I may be wrong, but I believe the Display Bezel can be removed, WITHOUT having to remove the entire Display Assembly from the laptop.

Makes life a lot easier.

There is a Philips head screw in the Bottom/Left corner, and a Philips head screw in the Bottom/Right corner, to remove from the Display Bezel.

They are under Screw Covers. The Screw Covers are made of synthetic rubber, or plastic. They are held in place by a type of rubber cement.
I take a computer pick, and gently pry up at the base of the Screw Cover.

If you are careful you should be able to reuse the Screw Covers.
If they do not stick anymore, apply a TINY dab of rubber cement to them, with a toothpick.

The Display Bezel has TABS going around the exterior perimeter of it's inside edges.
These snap into matching LATCHES on the Display Cover.

There also may be some sticky tape, at the bottom/inside edge of the Display Bezel. Means CAREFULLY pry the bottom edge of the Display Bezel when removing.

The best method, of removal of the Display Bezel that I have found, is to flex it.
It is made of space-age plastic, and is pretty tough stuff.
(Of course there are those, who could destroy a steel ball bearing with a rubber mallet, in a sandbox)

I cut a piece of thick construction paper, to just fit the inside edges of the Display Bezel.
Display Assembly laid as far back as possible, the thick piece of construction paper will stay in place.
It is used to prevent scratching of the LCD screen, from your fingernails.

Come to the Inside edge (LCD screen side), of the right/middle side of the Display Bezel. Sliding a fingertip of one hand under the bezel to lift up slightly.
Can't get in? Move over a little. You are at a Tab/Latch.

With one fingertip under the bezel, slide another fingertip under from your other hand. By now a Tab/Latch should have released.

SNAP!

Sounds like you're breaking something.

Keeping the bezel slightly up, move along with the fingertips of one hand, and move towards the Top.
Go along the Top popping Tabs/Latches loose.
Then come down the Left side.

As you reach the bottom ease up on one side a little, and wait for the tape to start releasing. Then ease along the bottom until all the tape releases, and the Display Bezel pops off.

Once the Display Bezel is removed, then disconnect the small cable that comes from the Video Cable (Display Cable - HP), TO the screen Inverter board. (Left side of screen Inverter)

(screen Inverter is mounted behind the Display Bezel, and at the bottom of the Screen Frame.
The Screen Frame is the thin metal frame which surrounds the LCD screen assembly)

[The LCD screen is an assembly of layers. The layers are held in the factory set position by the Screen Frame]

Disconnect the small cable that goes TO the screen Inverter, on the Right side of the screen Inverter.
Remove the screen Inverter, and lay aside.

Remove the Philips head screw at EACH top corner. Holds the Screen Frame TO the Display Cover.

Tilt the top of the LCD screen towards you, remove the clear adhesive tape over the Video Cable connector on the back of the LCD screen.

(DO NOT remove the tape all the way. Just carefully peel it back far enough, so that you can get to the Video cable connector, at the back of the LCD screen. This way you should be able to reuse the tape)

Disconnect the Video Cable (Display Cable) from the back of the LCD screen.

Remove JUST the screws which hold the Hinge Brackets TO the Screen Frame.

The Screen Frame can be taken apart. Of course you will need to do this, BUT ONLY after removing the LCD screen assembly.

Compaq presario 1200 laptop monitor problem

This is due to a bad Backlight, or screen Inverter.

90 PERCENT OF THE TIME the fault is a bad screen Inverter,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-COMPAQ-PRESARIO-1277-1275-13-1-1688-1200-1694-13-3-LCD-SCREEN-INVERTER-/330698057906?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cff23e8b2

A small primer before we continue;

An LCD screen cannot produce light. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source,

http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/NA_Optical/Systems/BehindTheScenes/Optics101/

Click on the monitor icon.

A Backlight can be a CCFL, (Or two of them), or a series of LED's.
(Light Emitting Diode)

The Compaq Presario 1200 series of Notebook PC's, uses a Single CCFL.

(The exact model number is on the Bottom of the laptop. It is in a white Service Tag, and P/N = Product Number. Compaq and HP's model number)

A CCFL is a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses, but on a MUCH smaller scale.

Average thickness is 2mm. That is a little larger than 1/16th of an Inch, or about this thick -> O
Average length is almost as long, as the LCD screen is in height.

Look at the last 8 photos ]

A screen Inverter is used to convert the power of the laptop, for the LCD screen, and Backlight.
(LED backlighting doesn't usually use a screen Inverter.
CCFL backlighting Does)

Primer over.

The front plastic thin frame in front of the LCD screen, is the
Display Bezel.
The screen Inverter is located behind the Display bezel, and is located towards the bottom of the LCD screen.

1) Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.

2) Open the laptop to the usual 90 degree position.

AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, you do not need to remove the Display Assembly from the laptop, in order to remove the Display Bezel.

IF the Display Bezel will Not come off, with the Display Assembly attached to the laptop, I will give a link at the bottom of this section to a free Service Manual from HP Support.

There are 4 Philips head screws that go around the front, of the Display Bezel.

One at the Top Right corner, one at the Top Left corner, one at the Bottom Left corner by the left Hinge, and one at the Bottom Right corner by the right Hinge.

These are covered by Screw Covers. The screw covers can be pried off with your fingernails. If you use care you may be able to reuse them again. I stick them to the Display Bezel frame for safekeeping.
(They also like to stick to your fingers too! lol!)

If the glue is not reusable on the screw cover/s, just put a tiny little dab of Rubber Cement on them, using a toothpick.
(Try to remove any old glue first)

Use a Philips screwdriver of the right size, and remove the 4 Philips screws.
The Display Bezel is now pried off.

Use CARE as your fingernails can scratch the LCD screen.
You can lay the LCD screen back as far as it will go, then cut something to fit the LCD screen area, and be inside the inside edges of the Display Bezel.
Poster board, cardboard, cloth, etc.

Or use a pair of computer gloves.

The procedure is to lift the inside edge of the top, of the Display Bezel up a little. Then move over a few inches with your other hand, and try lifting up on another inside edge of the Display Bezel.
This will slightly flex the frame of the Display Bezel.

There are Latches on the inside of the Display Bezel, and Tabs on the Display Cover. (Cover that is the top when you close the laptop)
The Latches snap into the Tabs.

When you lift up on the inside edge of the Display Bezel, the Display Bezel will flex. Lift up, slide your fingers over under the Display Bezel, and the bezel will start popping off. Snap, snap, snap.

Keep working along, and popping those Latches loose from the Tabs.

Same principle, less screws,

Again, a different laptop than yours. Main info I want you to see is at
3:04 to 3:22,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goVTe9rzAFo

The screen Inverter will be located at the bottom/middle, of the LCD Screen Frame.
Remove the screw/s that hold it on. Carefully unplug the wires to it.
Plug the wires to the new one, and remount the screen Inverter.

Snap the Display Bezel back into place, reinstall the screws, and screw covers.

Replacing a CCFL backlight if the screen Inverter wasn't the problem;

It's TRICKY, and dangerous.
The bulb is so thin it can break in a New York minute.
It also contains MERCURY just like Fluorescent lamps used in homes, and businesses.

Acer aspire laptop screen problem.looks like ink burst behind screen

Suggest you replace the LCD screen, pearlboslem. It is damaged.

If you post the Acer Aspire model number, I can find replacement LCD screens for your perusal, and should be able to find a Service Manual. (Free)
I will also guide you step by step the best I can.

This is on the Bottom of the laptop in a white Service Tag.

If you have never replaced an LCD screen in a laptop, the task may look daunting.
I assure you it isn't.

Generally the plastic strip that is above the Keyboard, and below the LCD screen, is removed.
Usually the Power On button, and LED indicator lights are in this plastic strip.
Different manufacturers have different names for this strip of plastic.
LED Cover, Power Button Cover, etc.

With a lot of Acer laptops the LCD screen can simply be accessed by removing the Display Bezel, and the plastic strip does not have to be removed.
(Some laptops do not have a plastic strip)

In the front of the LCD screen, and surrounding the LCD screen, is a thin plastic frame.
This is the Display Bezel.

Most display bezel's have rubber screw covers, going around the front of the bezel.
These are gently picked off with a computer pick, or suitable tool.
They have a type of rubber cement on them, and if careful, they can be reused.
(Stuck back into place)

The screws are just Philips head screws. Once removed the Bezel is slightly flexed, and popped off.

{The outside edges of the Bezel have tabs. Plastic protrusions formed out of the Bezel itself.
These tabs mate up with mating tabs in the Display Cover. The top cover of the laptop.

The tips of the fingers are put on an inside/middle edge of the Bezel, and used to gently ease this inside edge up a little. (Care is used so that fingernails do not touch/scratch the LCD screen)

With the inside/middle edge brought up enough to insert a second finger, the second finger slides down, and eases up on the inside edge again.

The tabs will start popping loose. The procedure is to keep moving along the inside edge with your finger tips, and keep popping the tabs loose. Once you are 1/2 way around, or so, the Bezel will pop free.

Some bezels do not have screws. The Bezel is flexed as above, so it is distorted, and the tabs pop free }

Once the Bezel is removed you are looking at the LCD screen, and how it is fastened to the Display Cover.

The LCD screen is an assembly. It is composed of layers. The layers are held in place by a screen frame. A thin metal frame that resembles a picture frame.

Usually on the left, and right side of the screen frame are metal brackets.
These are attached to the screen frame with two to four screws.
The screws are removed, and the LCD screen assembly is almost ready for removal.
There are cables (Wires) that have to be removed from the LCD screen, the Inverter at the bottom of the LCD screen, and maybe wireless antenna wires.

This gives you an idea on replacing an Acer LCD screen. Different models are shown.
Along with a pictorial guide, I may be able to find a Service Manual also,

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/category/1-acer-laptops/

At the end of every article for each laptop model, you will see in red -
Read the rest of the entry
Click on this for the full article on that model of laptop.

You can click on each photo shown to enlarge it.

Just to show you how relatively easy it is to replace an LCD screen, in an Acer laptop.

Post the Model Number, and I'll give you more exacting information.

How do I remove the display screen from an Acer Aspire 6930-6235 laptop? I have taken all the visible screws out but the bezel won't pop out at the bottom (where the hinge is). There appear to be more...

Unfortunately there is no manual from acers site on this laptop so it would be hard to tell.
If your trying to remove the plastic bezel just above the keyboard, there can be screws on the narrow side on the back, screws on the bottom of the laptop combined with plastic clips along the edges of it. Also could be screws behind battery if its located at the top on the back. I use these flat plastic tools for taking apart phones and mp3 players they work great for laptops
I just watched a youtube video showcasing the laptop and just watching that I would say there are screws under the battery. With the LCD closed you will probably have to unclip the bezel from the back end of the laptop as well as with the LCD open there are probably a lot of clips a long the edge.
Screws first then along the narrow end on the back then the rest of the clips should be easy to pop.
