Bulb has gone. And wil cost about £200 to replace, could be time for a new projector
Its not necessarily the bulb. The cover has a microswitch. On the cover you will find a tongue which goes into a hole on the projector where the microswitch is located. This part of the projector can deform and the contact between the microswitch and tongue is not made, so the projector thinks the cover is not on. This can be intermittent and sometimes the projector will start and work again when you switch it back on. You can try wrapping a bit of tape around the tongue to make it fatter (but not so fat that it won\'t go in the hole of course). This has been a partial fix for me, but I\'m now looking to fix more permanently.
The black plastic inside where the bulb sits seems to come away from the side somewhat. It is not fixed to anything at one end. This move the microswitch away from the tongue. So I\'m going to have a look at gluing that bit of black plastic so that it stays in position.
