what is the request? You made a statement re: hdd.
Tried new hard drive first. Even w/o a hard drive, machine should bring up BIOS and display of BIOS on monitor. Doesnt. Hooked to several monitors so not monitor either.

Tried windows CD to boot to.
    Mobo light on motherboard.
    No energy problems.
Eliminated mobo, hdd, power supply, memory. All good/new.

Sorry, I did state what was done already in the original. Maybe original is not showing so I will paste it here again:

Turned off PC one night working fine. Next time try to use, PC wont boot. No video display, no bios, no posts, nothing.
Gateway Desktop GT 5464 w/ integrated video, Intel E2140 Processor, Intel 945GC Mobo.

Replaced Mobo with new; tested memory, memory tests normal; replaced power supply w/ new; changed out hdd. Still same: PC wont boot. No video display, no bios, no posts, nothing.

It is my understanding with a problem like this, according to Intel and other online forums, that if you take the mobo out of the case and put on foam pad, hook up only power supply, processor, memory one should get something displayed on the monitor re: BIOS. I do not. The only thing I cant change out w/ new is the processor. If there is a test to check the processor I will do it, but I dont know what.

Have you tried booting it from yor CD drive with bootable software?

Any led flashing anywhere in the computer?

If not, we are talking about energy problem. Try fitting the energy cord firmly, try connecting the battery charger in a different power outlet.

Gateway GM5442 PC Desktop Won't Boot!

3 BEEPS -RAM

Guest Posts: n/a 01-24-2005 We had a power failure in the office this weekend. All the systems are back
up and running fine, except for the receptionists. It's a Gateway
Professional Series. P4 1.3 Ghz. It is giving me three beeps. No boot up
screen and no video source (monitor light stays yellow instead of turning
green). I looked up the beep code and it says three beeps means the ram
needs reseated. Which I have done several times. Also, I have just put in
one stick in difference seats. I have also reseated all the cards at least
three times. I have switched the jumper to try to boot into setup mode.
Nothing there either. Popped out the cmos battery and put it back in. No
good either.

Has all the ram been fried? The fan on the cpu is still spinning. The cd-rom
ejects. I can't hear the hard drive spinning. I guess I can swap the hard
drive for a different one.

Anything I'm missing? YEP

My computer won't boot, I just get a black screen that gives me two options, bios menu and something else f2 or F12

iF you cannot resume with the Operating system..try to go to Bios and set up the boot priority 1 = hard disc,

If this wont still work, your Operatiting system might be corrupted.. go to bios again and set up the boot priority 1 = cdrom.. next, try to insert the installation disc of your OS but do not install it, select option: REPAIR only.

If the cdrom would not boot, unplug the battery of the bios, then put it back again correctly. After this, boot again your cd.. Thanks..! dont forget to comment if you like my post.

Had trouble booting the computer over time. Sometimes power light would come on and nothing else. By unplugging, waiting 15sec it would power up. Over time this stopped working. Eventually power light...

Time to look for a new computer. That and take out your hard drive to copy your files over.

Sounds like motherboard problem. Probably not worth repair.

I've got an HP desktop with similar problems. It turned on one day just fine. The next day not. I don't even get the boot up screens. Disconnecting Hard Drive and CD/DVD components do not help. I should at least get some BIOS POST beeps and a Hard Drive Not Found or such. I do not. On occassion it will boot to a blank screen with white cursor in upper left. Most the time no screen at all. On rare occassion it comes right on and boots Windows. I guess it could be the power switch ... but I doubt that.

Cannot see the bios screen

I would try removing, the cd drive, hardrives out so all you have connected is the processor, and ram. If two sticks dont work try one. Try this as a starting point too see if you get a display signal from the monitor, and the bios. Also try putting in a video card in the pci or agp if the on board video isnt working.

System does not see new video card

Confirm the card works in another system to eliminate it as a suspect. Try a beefier power supply in the machine (sometimes these 300 to 350 watt supplies just cant hang when an addon card is installed). Check the BIOS settings and make sure that the PCI Express slot resources are active for the card. If the card uses a power connector, make sure it is connected. Keep us posted.
