Jenn Air Gas cooktop burner ignition

Right front burner on gas cooktop not sparking and at times for no reason all burners (except right front) start sparking. Appears left rear burner is the problem. Need to pull plug to stop. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Hi JHMcdona

Most likely the electrode for the right burner is defective. As well as the switch may also be defective (is shorted because of pressing hard on it trying to make it work!!). Change the electrode and igniter switch of the right front burner.

Regards

The igniter on the right front burner of my GE Gas cooktop does not work....I must use a lighter or match to ignite....What can I do? There is no clicking sound when I turn on the burner?

all burner igniters work at the same time - you may have a faulty electronic spark unit. change the spark unit. go to repair clinic dot come for the unit. also would be wise to check the ingniter start switch on the gas burner control knob

Jenn-Air JGC8536 Gas Cooktop ignitor replacement

One burner doesn't consistently light. Igniter sparks but not the same as the other - "good" burners spark at top of igniter and moves around to light, "bad" burner sparks toward the bottom and doesn't move much. I can use the burner by lighting with a match and it works fine. Have tried cleaning with a toothbrush without much success

Clicking on one of the burners

sound like the spark switch got wet or has failed, if it has gotten wet from cleaned to stop the clicking unplug the ct of 24 to 48 hrs to allow time to dry out if that does not work call a appliance service company

It is not a GE but it is a Jenn-air

It's either a bad spark module or switch.
