When i play call of duty 4 mordern warware its fine but when i go online it takes ages to download the game settings where as before it worked straight away,now i cant play online with that game but any other agme works fine online,why is it doing it?????

Will it play other games fine? Is the cod modern warfare disc scratched? You might have a dirty laser or bad one try cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and a qtip.
if you are using a wireless connection the signal may be to weak. if not you can try deleting your game and save data. you will lose any single player saves you will also have to re download any map packs you purchased. the game should also do an update when you load again after deleting the game and save.
1-turn off game console..............2-disconnect router for 20 seconds then reconnect............3-turn on game console..............4-go to setting click on network setting.................5-go to internet connection and press X and disable the connection wait 10 seconds and renable the connection and cod4 should work fine on line.............................

It might have something to do with your newtwork type.
Go on the network settings section and check your connection type. If you're using a wireless network it will probalby resolve by time, if not you should hear with your network service
