I have an Mitsubishi HD 1080 big screen tv. When you turn the power on, within 2-5 seconds the power goes off. Why? I tried this "After attempting to turn on set after it shuts off push and hold the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time on the front of the set for 10 seconds. This should acccuate the self diagnostics function in the micro and the power LED should start blinking a two sequence code. That code will narrow things down.
Sequence 2...1 repeats 5 times
Ur power ic inverter board is dead.
U need a new one.

It started with a smell first. We did not realize it was the TV. It smelled like burning wood. We thought it was the window air unit.
About 3 hours went by. We had froze the TV with the DVR. Wehen we hit play the TV went off.
When I turn it on, green light comes on for 2-5 seconds then it turns itself off.
Then I unplugged and replugged. I tried attempting to turn on set after it shuts off I push and hold the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time on the front of the set for 10 seconds. It gave me a Sequence 2...1 repeats 5 times, then stops.
double check code by unplugging set and trying to turn it on again--2 blinks, pause and one blink is X-ray protection--means some kind of problem in high voltage circuit and may mean with one of the three picture tubes--double check code--if it is 2 and then one the set may have to go to a shop to find problem--let me know here if you have any questions
