Go here and you should get a pop up window asking what to do with the file. Choose Open With Adobe Acrobat Reader
BTW, the manual has been updated from the original that came with the printer.

may be you not installed the scanner application software if you have driver disk of printer choose the customs installation and select the scanning option menu and re install it the application.
