Turn the wheel to FM Radio (There's a picture of a radio beside it). Press the center of the wheel or right arrow to select
FM Radio. To scan for a station use the left and right arrow keys (to the left & right of the wheel). To add/delete/view preset station list press the down button (below the wheel).

I can't access the main menu. When I power up it is stuck on the FM radio mode.

Having gone over a month without a reply to my query, I assume the suggested reset solved the problem.

The FM range stops at 90. How do you extend to full range.

This shouldn't happen. Try resetting the player to factory settings (under Settings menu).

If this doesn't work, download, install and run the Sansa Firmware Updater with your e280 connected to your PC:

Sansa e280 fm recordings

First, try to copy the files to your PC. Make sure you have a CD burning program and drive of some kind. WAV files are very large compared to Mp3 files, so you may be only to fit a few on an AUDIO CD. If you burn the WAV files to CD as a DATA CD, then you will be able to fit more files onto a single CD, but you will not be able to play that same CD in a CD player.

Fm radio

Open My Computer. Double click Sansa player. Open the Internal Memory icon. Open the Record folder. Transfer recordings to your computer using a drag-and-drop method. Use your cd recording software to burn to CD.

Sansa 280 with 8 gigs

The message says it needs 6MB of space for the MUSIC DB ( the database, the artist names, etc).

You need to delete some of the recordings off of your device to free up some space.

You can manually delete the files while connected to your computer from My Computer>Device Name (e280)>MUSIC Folder.

Best of Luck.
