M-series gateway (m1629) press start button, nothing

M-series gateway (m1629) press start button, screen has partial flash that can only be seen in a dark room, power cord is not recognized and plugged in , battery lamp is lite minimal power (tried with different known good cord and battery no change) also you hear a click, and the wireless indicator flashes on and off. NO fan, no start no nothing. This is a refurbished unit, less then 6 months old and gateway won't warranty past 90 days on purchase. Any thoughts.

Taken apart, looking for abnormal solder etc checked powers switches decided that this unit was acting like it may have shut down due to excessive heat issue. pulled battery on board, tested ok, re-installed everything and found that this unit now is active. Conclusion: I suspect the bios shut this unit down, hard reset correct this issue.

Testimonial: "this fixed the unit thanks."

Starts up gateway logo then goes to insydeh20. How do I get to windows screen

You may have corrupted BIOS. If so, you need to download your BIOS to a flash drive and try to recover it. Some Gateway users have seen this with the Insyde BIOS. See: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gateway-emachines/589067-gateway-nv78-insyde-bios-recovery-filename-hangs-bios-splash-screen.html

First when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode.
If you are able to enter then go to start menu->control panel->display property ->settings.
Change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
But if you are not able to see safe mode and other menu.
Then open cpu cabinet .
Refix RAM memory.
Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes.
Reattach all connection harddrive.
Open processor fan and processor remove dust from all parts.
Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet.
Remove PCI cards if any.
After all above still same then change RAM then try.

My gateway fpd1975w tft lcd monitor does not work. the power button just flashes blue and nothing comes on. i put an old monitor to my computer and it worked fine, and i hooked my monitor up to an old...

Restart the PC and get into SAFE MODE. Hit and release F8 many times right after turning on PC. If it works, then go into your video setting and either change the settings or remove the video driver. Restart the PC and you'll get 800X600 screen, then reinstall the video drivers. IF it won't go above 800X600, screen internals are bad, LCD toasted. I've seen that happen with LCDs and older monitors.
