The message indicator light is blinking stating I have messages waiting on lines 2 and 3 but I have checked my message system and there are no messages how do I get it to stop blinking

Try holding the mute/find handset button on the base unit for about 5 seconds and the light should stop flashing.

What worked for me was to call my phone and leave a voicemail. I then retrieved and deleted my voicemail which reset my handsets.

The VMWI led will stay lit if you have voice mail service from your telephone service provider. A lot of providers will also give a broken or stutter dial tone when you first go off hook as an indication of messages waiting. If you hear a stutter dial tone when you first go off hook, you will need to contact your telephone service provider. If not, you can try a simple reset on the base unit, just unplug it from teh AC adapter for about 5 minutes and then plug it back in.

Slide the Nortel Grey Bar above the Hold & Rls buttons to reveal the setup button.

1. Hit that button to show *Options List / # Setup list
2. Press * to go into options.
3. Use the arrow buttons or hit 3 to go into CLEAR MESSAGE WAITING
4. Then hit 3 again to clear the message waiting

Found a user manual online. Solution is holding the "Find Handset" button in for five seconds, until the red light went off; that reset the message waitung light and message.
