Polaris booster pump runs for minute but quits. Tries to restart

I just installed new booster pump for my polaris sweep. It will start and run fine for about a minute and then shuts down. After another minute or so it makes a noise like it is trying to restart but does not. Whenn running it pumps water very well. It does not feel overly warm and when not running there is water flow through the line as it is tied into the pool pummp line.
When the pump shuts down I can manually restart it by flipping the power switch off then on. The old pump was doing the same but it was 15 years old and I thought it probably had a shorted field internally.

The motors are usually dual voltage and factory connected for 230V. Are you sure it is properly wired and set for the correct incoming line voltage?

Water comes out of the tail of polaris 360, but tail does not sweep.

check the filter in the wall of the pool where the Polaris line hooks up, it got a small filter in it. you are running it on low-pressure that's why it not sweeping, could also be a plugged impeller on the booster pump.

I have a pb4 polaris booster pump that doesn't seem to put out enough pressure to run the pool sweep.

Check your in line screen and wall fitting to make sure they are right. Sometimes the over pressure button on the wall fitting will blow out.

Also, your local pool store should have a pressure stick they will lend you. It connects the end of the hose where the Polaris would be. You should be getting a least 28 psi. If you are getting less, you may have a clog in the booster pump's impeller. If you have that or more, the problem is internal to the Polaris. Verify that the backup valve is working properly as well.

Pool sweep wheels are not turning

Problems with the sweep hose on these pools cleaners usually just means that you need to do some fine tuning. Start by trying to adjust the sweep hose adjustment screw. To adjust, turn off the booster pump and turn the screw clockwise to decrease motion and counterclockwise to increase. You might also need to replace one or both of your swivel ball bearings (part #D20).

Installed a new 3/4 hp Polaris pool sweep pump.

Check your voltage and be sure it matches the way the motor is wired. You will find a scematic for this on top or on the side of the new motor, with a diagram on how to rewire it if nessary. If this is not the problem then it is in the motor and should be returned for a new one.
