I have a Panasonic PT-53WX54J that will not Converge

I have a Panasonic PT-53WX54J that will not maintain its convergence. The red will align using the convergence proceedure, but the blue will not. Its too far left on the right side of the screen. Regardless of how well I get the red aligned, it seems to diverge as the TV stays on. And once the TV is turned off and back on its back to sqaure one again. Normal images are 'ghosted' with blue shadows and the right side of the screen has a yellow vertical band.

You need to replace or have professional convergence amplifiiers. If know how to desolder and solder you could repair yourself or in home professional tv repairperson will cost you $275-$400. The convergence adjustments via remote are half the battle the IC's loose clarity over time.

The picture is producing a double image which appears to be in red only with a slight bending of the images on some parts of the screen.

Your Convergence ICs have failed. It is very common on rear projections. The solution is to replace the STK chips, check fuses and the resistors next to the STK chips. Replace as necessary and re-align via the service menu. It is about a $300 repair at a tv service center. You will need the service manual if you decide to do this yourself.

Try This:
When you notice the symptons Use this simple test to verify.
Go to the users menu on the tv.
Look for the converge option probably under setup or video setting. Converge is short for convergence to align the red and blue colors to the green color.

If you cannot move the red either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for red section.
If you cannot move the blue either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for the blue section.

If you can move both in each direction then the problem is something else.

Note if one STK chip fails, you replace both regardless.

Everything has red highlights. but adjusting with the remote does not change things to correct the problem?

Go into the menu with your remote a click on picture next scroll down to convergence and click on it. Follow the on screen instructions on how align or converge the diffrent color lines togeather. It will usually have a white cross on the the screen. This should solve your problems if not have a tech replace the 2 convergence chips in the back of you set

Panasonic cinema vision pt-53wx54j does not turn on. red power led blinks 3 times.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. 3 blinks means convergence output failure and to resolve this you’ll need to change the convergence chips which are located behind the black heat sink; you can see once you open the back off the TV. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Mitsubishi - cannot converge red

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic2_bing.gif,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture
