Is a porter cable fr350 the same as fr350a?

I see reference to porter cable fr350 and fr350a and I need a rebuild kit are those one and the same? It appears that when the fr350b came out they tagged the fr350 with the "A" tag is fr350a now is that correct?

The fr350a is completely different from fr350. The fr350a is completely modernized framing gun as compared to the retired version. I do not like repair kits because you are replacing parts that are still good. Instead replace parts as needed. If you state the issue you are having I may be able to recommend the actual part needed. If however you do not have any major air leaks, a lube job will make the gun work great. Use white grease or nail gun oil. Good luck with your repair.

After firing a nail the bar that drives the nail doesn't retract sometimes. when this happens, air leaks out of the back of the gun. Then I disconnect the air and let the compressor fill all the way back up, then reconnect the air. The the bar retracts to it's "ready to fire position. I can't find any FR350 o-ring kits (only FR350A). With that information, can you tell which o ring I might need. Maybe I can find the specific O-ring on "ereplacementparts.com" or somewhere.
    Thanks
    Tim

SOURCE: Wiil a 22 degree Paorter Cable FR350A Round Head

No... it will fire 21-degree nails and perhaps 23-degree nails (but sont think they exist) and it is a full-head framing nailer so it is designed for firing round head nails. Using clipped nails will likely jam the nailer as these nails are stripped closer together with overlapping heads in the nail strip and the FR350A has a full round driver so you will run into issues with clipped nails. If you are having problems finding full round head nails, you can find them on Amazon to fit this nailer. Otherwise any good tool or trade tool store that sells nailers will likely have a suitable nail supply available for the FR350A.

Rebuild porter cable framing nailer

This model suffers from cylinder seal failure (large plastic seal sitting on top of cylinder) and sticking headvalve. Easy to fix however. Remove head and pop out the headvalve . Lube the headvalve orings with white grease and reinstall. Replace the plastic cylinder seal with Ridgid seal #079020001013, same part as porter cable but cost less. Good luck

FR350 nailer ram does not fully retract. Lubed ram and it worked most of the time for the next clip of nails. Now it is back where it started, retracting about two thirds of the way, not enough to get...

Did you rebuild the tool? If not remove all the nails and unplug air, BUMP nose on piece of wood and does driver fall down? If so the pistion o ring needs to be replaced. Also if this is not the case look for a jammed nail in the magazine/nose area. Next check for a bent driver blade. All the above could cause your problem

Replacement FR350A Trigger PLEASE IE Where can I find One, or something that will work

Trigger from FR350 will work and in stock here:
http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/cgi-bin/schematic.cgi/portercable/FR350_TYPE_1

Trigger itself however should last the life of the gun. Check the trigger valve to make sure that it is not the problem. The trigger valve is the same for both fr350 and fr350a

After further research I came up with a Contact Number for You for Porter-Cable for Service Centers 888-848-5175, I'm sure They can Help You Troubleshoot this Nailer more In-depth...
IF, You can't get any satisfaction with the Service Center you come up with, get back in touch with me, and give me an Area of the Country your In, and perhaps I can get you to a Better solution. I reviewed your Model Parts Schematic and seen Several Parts that could be the Culprits. But at this Point I strongly feel That Porter-Cable Service Center would be Your BEST alternative. Good Luck!!

I have a porter cable fr350A round head framming nailer and when i connect the air it just comes out the top it goes strait thru,it seems like the trigger is on all the time.

I have worked on many fr350 nailers with the problem that you are describing. The fix is usually simple. I just remove the head and pop out the headvalve by using an air nozzle on the small port drilled into the mating surface. Be carefull because the headvalve could pop-out with force. Clean all surfaces and use silicone paste to lube the orings and the surface of the head where orings contact. Check for cut orings or defective upper bumper (cracks or cuts). Also look for small scratches with magnifying lens on the surface where orings contact. Sand with very fine paper (300 grit). Re-assemble and you should be good to go. Silicone paste is sold at Lowes in the plumbing department. It is used to lube orings in faucets. Parts are available at www.toolpartsdirect.com
Good Luck on your repair and email if you have questions.
