What electrode? All your plasma cutter needs is air and power. Plasmas don't use rods(electrodes), they cut not weldThe tip of the nozzle needs to be in contact with the work as well as having a good ground. and thenozzle componantin good shape.I guess you can call the tungsten in the tip an electrode, Sorry, Yes that piece cannot be cuuped. The more it cups from the plasma arc the harder it will be to hold it lit. It's a good idea to have several on hand being they are considered a consumable. Good luck.

Stop acting like an expert when you don't know what you're talking about. Plasma cutters absolutely have electrodes! How else would the current be transferred to your work? No, it's not a welding electrode, there are different kinds of electrodes. Google "plasma cutter electrodes" and you will find them.

Hi,

I would recommend replacing the electrode, and maybe the tip, other that that it sounds like you aren't getting a good enough ground for it to start.

My Thermal Dynamic Drag Gun Plasma Cutter runs but cant blow its arc. Bit of spark, Bit of air, then just refuses to blow its arc. Was working well and with new tips and electrodes but then just refused....

Hi:
There is no mention of the Thermal Dynamic's gun model, but i will suppose that it is a SL60 or a SL100 which are replacement guns for any model of plasma using the proper adaptor.
Your problem could be the start cartridge which go bad now and then when the gun is used as a replacement of a hammer to make the cut piece to fall.

The way to check if your start cartridge is in good condition is by checking the low part of the cartridge, push it up (or down depending on the way you handle it) it should freely slide inside and return out.

Good luck.

Miller plasma cutter not cutting

Hi:

Miller plasma are pretty realiable. Without more details; what you need to do is check the contact tip and the electrode if these ones are won, replace them. If still doesn't work; check your air pressure; main source must give you at leats 90 psi and 9 SCFM of flow,

Good Luck

Problems with Lincoln LINCOLN ELECTRIC K1756-1 PRO-CUT 25 PLASMA: all settings ok, air ok will spark on occassion and then nothing. tried everything put will only lit very seldom and then nothing.????...

Try using fine sand paper and clean the tip of electrode and the thing that looks like thimble, another solution was don't tighten tip cover too much back off a little til you ge good contact. some units don't like to be clicked ON without making contact with working metal, you may get two or three clicks and then nothing til the air stops flowing.

My plasma cutter just flashes fault everytime you try and use it. could it be the ground or would it be the electrod

check the main lead to the torch,if there is a cut or any hole in the rubber coating it will show fault, the unit uses high frequencey so if the lead has a cut it wont fire up.

Plasma cutter is burning through electrodes

Try turning down the juice. Tungsten is very durable, but is prone to melt also at excessive torch output.

Hobart 250 a keeps cutting off the flame

If you have a bad air supply then the moisture in the air will cause the torch to cut off and the cut quality depends also on air supply, speed, metal thickness and condition of your consumables, meaning your electrode and other related parts in the torch tip.Hope this helps

Plasma cutters problem

Depending upon the design of the torch (e.g., orifice diameter), electrode design, gas type and velocities, and the current levels, several variations of the plasma process are achievable, including: * Plasma Arc Welding (PAW) * Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC) * Plasma Arc Gouging * Plasma Arc Surfacing * Plasma Arc Spraying
