Re: Craftsman riding mower starts rides a few minutes...
Make sure that when you check the oil that the mower has sat I say for at least 5mins. Your mower might have an oil sencer. If not I think it might be the coil gettin hot and shorting out.

there should be a drive belt tensioner somewhere on the belt, it usually works off the clutch/brake, when you push on the brake it apply's the brake and also takes the tension off the belt to stop it from moving.
Not sure of your ride on mower but that is how my ride on mower works so I hope this helps.
sounds like a safety switch problem. but maybe you can help me i have the same model do you have a lot of jerking when you start off of turn with yours?
what king of mower is this??, if it is a push mower check the flywheel key. if you hit something it got off timing. same could happen with riding mowers. send me a model# and brand.
There's a safety shut-off switch below the seat, so when you're seated the switch is engaged. If you were to fall off the mower, the engine and Blades stop (safety feature).
Check the switch to see if it's operational.
Beyond that, mower may need a tune up or servicing, if it is not starting.
Mower has safety switch under seat, & 4 deck engage lever. Check wiring.
tested plug and got a white spark
