Hi. My digital camera (kodak Z612) has recently decided not to work. I've had it for a year and now when I turn it on, I get a black screen and it takes black pictures. I can still see pictures that I've taken before, but new ones are black. Please help!! How can I fix this?
I have the same problem with my Z612 and seemed to have found a solution that works for me. I discovered that if I turn the dial to the Favorites mode then back to Auto mode it resets the shutter/CCD and begins to work again. Obviously your mileage will vary but I hope this solution works for you as well.
Hi Kristoni...I had the same problem, and fixed it. This is what you do. Get yourself a good strong magnet it dosen't have to be big just strong. We are dealing with a stuck shutter so we have to spring it back.
Turn the camera on and turn it upside down, slide the magnet to the right of the tripod mounting hole onthe round portion of the lenz you may hear a click but you will see the LCD screen lite up. Its good for taking only one pic then your back to sq. one. You have to do this everytime but its a fix.
Merry Christmas.

Okay people, it's really easy to fix this problem. Get your Kodak z612, turn it on, wait 5 minutes or so and it will turn of automatically, turn it on again, AND YOU FIXED IT! Doesn't it work after 1 time? Try it several times then ;).
Hi,
I've had my Kodak Z612 for only a year and a half and my screen has also gone black. When I contacted Kodak Support, I was told I could upgrade. That was their solution. I asked" Why would I want to do that when the overpriced ($299.00) camera I bought couldn't even go the distance?" Who's to say it wouldn't happen again. Shame on Kodak. Never again!

I've only had my Kodak Z612 for a year and a half and my screen has also gone black. I contacted Kodak support and explained my dilemma and they suggested that I upgrade. I asked "Why would I want to do such a thing after spending money on an overpriced ($299) camera that couldn't go the distance?" It appears that it's not an isolated incident. Shame on Kodak. Never again!
