After several years of good service, now my Actiontec gt704-wg shows a flashing red power indicator and all 4 ethernet lights flashing green. The reset button made no difference. Any hope?
Re: After several years of service, now my Actiontec
Electronics like these usually have a reset button behind them, try it. If not, it could be a problem of age, since staying on 24/7 for years really wears electronics out.

I have seen this before and this has cured it:
Check the DNS settings in the Network panel and enter a manual DNS that matches the base address of the router (192.168.0.1 for this router).
System Preferences > Network > Ethernet > Advanced > DNS. Click the + sign and add 192.168.0.1. Click OK, and click Apply on the next screen.

You simply access the router's setup page by going to Internet Explorer and type http://192.18.1.1 it will prompt your for password, try admin by default. You can change the security key under the wireless tab and look for wireless security
I just flashed my verizon modem FT704-WG with the actiontec update upgrade301060gt704wg.img. I then selected "Obtain an IP Address through DHCP" and bam away we go... working better than verizons version.
you can download the user manual from here as to post the full set up would take a while, if you do not have the drivers then click on the second link to download it has there is a set up wizard you can use.

which is probably simpler than repeating here - however, if you have trouble with the manual - post back a reply
