Just puchased a new sim card and minutes for an original firefly phone and am receiving the message 'sim restricted'. Any ideas?

There are only two ways to get the unlocking code.

1. From the company that originally owned the phone on the first 2 year contract.

This error usually occurs when you attempt to use a SIM card from a network other than the network from which the phone originated (e.g. your Nokia mobile phone originated from Orange UK and displays the 'Sim Card Not Valid' error when you attempt to use a T-Mobile UK SIM card). The 'Sim Card Not Valid' error usually means the phone has been restricted for use on one specific network and you would need to unlock the phone before alternative network SIM cards can be used.

could You test the new SIM on another phone? Could be the housing of SIM damage on phone - hardware problem - Nokia Service.

in any case you need to find out which network and ask them for the unlock code.

Only the original network to which it is locked can provide this code.

I have one nokia 6270. Now my proble is that I have existing Airtel sim with me which is working fine but I have taken one tata Docomo sim which is not detected by my cell. Its giving the message sim card...

airtel sim is of 32k,and docomo is of 64 or
kindly visit any nearest tata indicom outlet to replace simCARD....

I want to unlock my firefly glowphone to be able to use any gsm available in india,but i do not know any unlocking codes.can u help me?

I am facing the same issue and does not seem to be a locking problem and firefly customer care has confirmed their phones are not network locked. However I did notice the issue could be due to different sim designs. The firefly sim design (the gold printed circuit at the back) seems to be larger than the airtel sim that I am trying to use on the firefly phone. I am planning to check with airtel if they can provide a sim of a different design.
