My iBook is running OSX (10.2.4) It sees the router but the passkey does not work. The same passkey works on all my other devices. My iBook wont connect to my Linksys wireless G router. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What type of security encryption do you use? I had an Acer Aspire one that would not connect when I was using WEP encryption, but when I went to "no security" it connected fine. Later I discovered that I could use WPA2 encryption and it worked fine with that. You might try removing the security just to see if that is where the issue is.

Try removing the passkey and security on the linksys

then enable reverse authenication, by allowing only specific MAC addresses to access the router. ( MAC FILTERING ) ONLY ALLOW

then add the MAC addresses of your IBOOK and what ever else you have..

simple and secure :)

Secure internet connection

Hi,

To secure a wireless network connection, either WEP or PSK has to be enable in the LinkSys router and a passkey designated/chose. This passkey must then be likewise encoded into your HP notebook wireless networking.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

How does your Daughter's computer connect? You state that yours connects directly, does here's connect via wireless connection? If so, then you'll merely need to view wireless connections with her PC and select your Linksys router and click on the connect button after which you should be prompted to enter your passkey/pass phrase to connect to your network. If you cannot remember the passkey, then do as suggested above and reset your router to default settings by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds or so while it's powered on and that should reset it to default with no security. Just make sure to enter the address 192.168.1.1 to address your router and re enable your security. I believe the default User Name is Liksys, and Password is Admin for your WRT54G Router.
Good luck.

Hi i have a problem conecting my lap top ho nx5000 to wirless mode can you help me

If your running WinXP you should see an icon on the bottom right near the clock with a wireless icon. Double click on it, should now open up a windows showing a list of available wireless networks to connect to.

If you have your own Wireless router in your place find the name of that ID whatever you had set it to. If you bought a Linksys router it would say by default Linksys. If it ask for a passkey enter the passkey you had setup on the router.

Now if you can see any wireless networks or you do but can't connect see if your laptop has a on/off switch for your wireless card. If so switch it on and bam wireless freedom you have.

Linksys wireless-g

ok, you seem to be going around it the wrong way round, if you are trying to connect to your friends network you would not connect to his pc you would connect to his router, so you cannot use your router to connect to his. assuming you have a wireless network adapter, which you must have, you simply connect to your friends router via your pc and not your router, you cannot have one router connecting to another, only signal boosters. when your'e network adapter detects a network, select your'e friends and then enter the passkey when prompted, so turn off your router,as it can only be used for your own network, as it musn't be connected to your modem, or else you wouldnt need to connect to your friends. If you want to connect to your friends pc for file sharing make sure he has is sharing set up and you both have the same workgroup name e.g. mshome
