Our Whirlpool Ultimate Care II washing maching agitates fine, but will not spin.
Lid switch is bad chance are you can by pass this by removing the timer header and crossing the outer wire on the lid switch that it mounted closest to the lid not the power cord this will tell you if you need a switch
I wasnt thinking take the clutch assembly out and turn over the pads this will require to take the inner tub out you my get lucky and after you pull the trany you sometimes can get to the clutch used some scotch brite and polish the lining for the pads to grab try this alot of the time this will be the problem. the trany is only used for aggite mostly is does contorl the spin but hardly breaks in side any more ?? ask me any time good luck these thing can be a pain if you havent ever worked on one

Thanks for the quick response, but I suspect it is something else. I already wired the lid switch to a closed circuit and the washer has worked fine for many months like this. Further testing showed that the motor is spinning -- I can feel the coupling spinning underneath -- but the tub did not spin. It's like something is not engaged in the brass housing (tranny?) on the other side of the coupling. BTW, I already checked that the coupling and all prongs are in great condition. Once during testing, the tub even spun briefly. But after reassembly, I could not get it to spin again. Any ideas? Thanks again.
my whirlpool washer will work on all cycles if there is nothing in the machine but when loaded with clothes it will not spin, this lead me to believe there is some thing wrong with the gear box is there a clutch or some thonig in these units, it is only 4 years old.
