Yes. The printer shows up on the list of printers I can choose from. When I print, the Epson print que places the job on hold automatically. I try to release it, but it still doesn't print and stay's on hold. I don't receive any error messages either...

i have a similar problem - i can scan and save the scans to my photos and i can photocopy... but when i try to print i get problems. Here's what happens:

    1. i go the print que and everything looks normal.
    2. i preview the document (tired to print word documents and pdfs and illustrator files and the same thing happens), things look good.
    3. printer pretends it's going to print and then then just feeds sheet after sheet of paper and no printing action actually happens.

i have downloaded the latest updates, etc. but no luck. please help me.

After setup, new CX8400 won't print, but keeps running sheets of blank paper. Running Mac OSX Leopard.

  • Anonymous Mar 05, 2008

running the imac 10.5---SAME PROBLEM!!! feeding me endless amounts of paper and I can't cancel the job.

  • jbrunk14 Mar 09, 2008

I have the same problem on my MacBook running Tiger. Endless sheets of paper feeding through...every once in a while it will print a bunch of jibberish lines (2 or 3 on a sheet, and then feed another sheet and do it again) I have no problem scanning or copying. This is driving me mad! Help!!!

  • Anonymous Mar 21, 2008

I have an iMac G5 and i just upgraded from tiger to leopard a few weeks ago. Before I upgraded, I was able to print without problems. Now, the printer keeps feeding blank sheets until there is no more paper left in the tray. I have to shut the printer down to stop the job. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the epson drivers but that failed also. Help please!

I just bought a MacBookPro and Epson CX84000 printer, scanner, copier and can't print to printer...I have installed and uninstalled the software on the CD and also other software online that is supposed to be for OS 10.5 and still I can't print....it did print the first time I installed the CD software but it was gibberish and then just all blank pages...now I choose a page to print, click on print and it goes into the print queue for a second and then disappears and nothing from the printer not even a sound?? Anyone out there have any suggestions, Epson has been no help at all to this point.

    thanks,

I added a printer (the same one by the way, so there is two of the epson cx8400 listed) and it worked!
    Thanks for the help.

same problem except i tried all of the fixes on this page and none seem to work... the Cx7000F driver will allow it to print but the colors are all wrong.  printer works fine with copy so i know its not the ink or the printer ... it is definitely the drivers and leopard not getting along.  For all the "it just works" stuff ive heard I have had a horrible experience with Mac on all fronts

Same problem -- printer was fine, reliable.  Suddenly, it stops working and just pauses the printer and stops the jobs.

  • stopitpoodle Sep 30, 2008

I've tried adding the printer to the dialogue box, deleting it, resetting everything, downloading and uninstalling new drivers...everything. Nothing works.

I have a new aluminum mac book and it just prints blank pages continuously....but when I hook up the printer to my old dell, it works just fine...when I go back to the mac, it fails again...so frustrating

  • maryjomich Apr 13, 2009

After my hard drive was replaced and OS X Leopard reinstalled, my printer continuously fed paper without printing and the job wouldn't quit. I uninstalled and reinstalled Epson software. After this every time I tried to print the job was stopped and remained in the cue. I contacted Epson help and they said to delete printer and then go to website and select the printer. If the driver is included in Leopard, don't download the software-- just turn on the printer and it should reinstall and work. I did this three times and It didn't work! So I went to this website and did what Solution 6 recommended. I'm finally printing again! Thank you!!!

  • r-land May 15, 2009

Okay, I have the same problem and NONE of the solutions are working. I have a Unibody 15" with 10.5.6. Epson actually SENT ME A NEW PRINTER. Same problem. Nonstop blank pages with the occasional garbage characters. I did ALL the solutions posted above. What got it printing again yesterday was deleting printer, resetting print system AND downloading and installing Gutenprint 5.2.3 (i had had 5.1). I figured the Gutenprint was the culprit. (JUst resetting and resinstalling wasnt doing it). I was able to print a few things yesterday. I was relieved to think I had solved it though annoyed that Epson had not been able to tell me and that I had to do all this figuring for myself (as did you all) and that they have not made this public to everyone.
Changed nothing, got up today, went to print and IT"S DOING THE ODL THING AGAIN! No, actually, with a new twist--it prints the first inch of the page, then spits the rest of the page out blank and THEN goes into spitting blank pages nonstop.
NOW WHAT??!?!?!? I am about ready to throw this ~*(@#~&$^*^~&%$^&#^! thing out the window.

EXACT same problem - trying to print to Epson CX8400 via my new MacBook Pro running Leopard (Mac OS X v10.5.7). Trying to print from Adobe Acrobat, Safari, Preview results in blank paper feeding through the printer stupidly. CX8400 IS able to make copies - but what's the use when you can't PRINT the original... Incredibly frustrating

I had the exact same problem with the endless blank pages "printing" out.  I have a MacBook Air with OSX 10.5.6.
Before I got a chance to try and delete and reinstall all the drivers all over again, my phone call was answered by a very helpful lady from Epson's support line US: 562-276-4382.
Here's how easy it was to fix: Go into Apple System Preferences, click Printer & Fax. HOLD CONTROL while clicking on the printer on the left side of the screen.  When you HOLD CONTROL, it allows you to choose the option to "Reset Printers".
Click "Reset Printers", and you will see them all disappear.  Simply plug in your CX8400 and click the plus button to add new printer.  It will search for the driver for you if you have an internet connection.  It worked for me on the first try and took only about 2 minutes total!!!!
I'd wasted so much time installing drivers and screwing with the printer before this.  Save your time for things that make you happy!  Share help when you can!

I was able to get it working by uninstalling and loading  Printer Driver v3.88 and  Epson EasyPrint v3.10  from the epson web site driver page for the printer. hope this works for you too.

For Leopard, I fixed this by:
1) Uninstall Epson drivers (with the downloadable installer/uninstaller) http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/SupportLeopard.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes

2) Running the Gutenprint Uninstaller & then downloading & running the new version of Gutenprint 5.2 (I think Leopard comes with the old 5.1 version) http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1537

Luck!

The culprit seems to be an incompatibility between Epson's Gutenprint driver (earlier version) that automatically installs with Leopard. You should delete the existing CX8400 printer from "System Preferences" and uninstall all existing drivers. Then go to Epson support page:  (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/SupportLeopardDetails.jsp?oid=90342&stage=6&BV_UseBVCookie=yes&download=ftp%3A%2F%2Fftp.epson.com%2Fdrivers%2Fepson12454.dmg&pc=Epson+Stylus%3Csup%3E%AE%3C%2Fsup%3E+Series&pn=Epson+Stylus+CX8400&ft=driver&returnpage=%2Fcgi-bin%2FStore%2Fsupport%2FSupportLeopard.jsp%3FBV_UseBVCookie%3Dyes%26oid%3D90342%26stage%3D2&licenseoid=17774&why=100&fnbjm=anneflac%40hotmail.com&contact=00&submitForm.x=68&submitForm.y=10&submitForm=01#stage6) and download the updated printer and scanner drivers (2 sep downloads). I had to do this twice, but then it finally worked.

I deleted the Epson CX8400 from the print menu. Re-installed the software from the CD. When I tried to print. Everything worked. THEN

The instructions indicated that if you were on Leopard you needed to install a Leopard update at: www.epson.com/leopard. After I installed the update, I didn't even get (the previous issue) of lots of blank paper running through the printer and not printing.

So I deleted the Epson CX8400 from the print menu, again. Re-installed the software from the CD. And left it at that. It's printing just fine now.

My guess is there is something wrong with the Leopard update.

Delete the printer from your printer list in System Preferences. Then add it, letting your Mac do its magic.

Use Apple's "Image Capture" program, included with OS X. Also updating to the latest drivers may solve your problem, at least according to Canon. I haven't tested the latest drivers yet.

Printer error

If you used the original driver software that came with your printer, it probably is not compatible with Snow Leopard. Go here: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=79609&prodoid=63066043&infoType=Downloads&platform=Macintosh
Click the download link and save the file to your desktop, then run the installer. This should load the most recent driver. Then go to System Preferences > Print & Fax, if your printer is not listed, click the + to add it. Hope that helps.

Epson stylus cx8400 won't print web pages

There are 6 downloads for your printer, 5 are software and one is the driver.

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=90342&prodoid=63069506&BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Downloads&platform=Windows&x=20&y=9

The help is free because we are all users like you who hare or knowledge sometimes learned the hard way.

Now disconnect the printer and go to printers and faxes and uninstall/delete it.
Go to add/remove programs and uninstall all epson programs.

Install the driver and connect the printer when told to by install prog.

Install other epson software.

Cannot Print from on Epson CX8400 from Mac OS X Leopard

I could only get my CX8400 to work with Leopard once I manually selected the driver located at /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/EPSON Stylus CX8400.gz

I think that may have appeared after installing a driver downloaded off the web, but I didn't track my steps carefully enough to be certain. I used http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=90342&prodoid=63069506&infoType=Downloads&platform=Macintosh

I know this is a bit jumbled, but hopefully it helps.
