A new video card will definitely help. Upgrading your RAM will also help greatly. How much do you have in your system now? I can make some recommendations if you would like.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Are the other programs or audio files or movies have audio in your computer? Are all videos or audio have sounds? If you cannot hear any sound with any of those, then you can fix it by updating the sound driver in your computer. Try using RadarSync to scan and update the computer.

Hi - If you're saying you're playing your video files right off the SD card that would be your problem. The data rate right off an SD card is too slow to play any decent sized video clip.

Copy the video files from your SD card to your hard drive and it take care of the problem.

Good Luck and thanks for using Fix Ya.

I cant play some blu-ray disc how can i get some of them to work

since it doesn't have enough RAM in it, some BDs or larger multi-layer DVDs fail to play/load entirely Its slow to buffer BD, and even slower to upscale DVDs. It doesn't support homemade DVD+/-R movies. It also doesn't support video on CD.

SOLUTION:
to get the movie to play add a 4GB SD card into it and format it for use as extra memory. Apparently, some BDs require a lot of memory. By adding the SD card, DVDs and THE BDs load faster and have no play problems. The overall downside to the RAM issues and the SD card is that, when the SD card gets full, you will have to reformat it to get anything to play. Tho, all lost disc info needs to be rebuffered onto the card the next time you watch the movie.

Whenever I play a DVD, the playback seems a slow both sound and video. Not sure if I need to clean it or what? I have a Lenova 0769 running XP Pro Version 2002 SP 3.

If it is your cd-dvd rom, or your dvd's, your movies would skip, freeze, like any other movies players such as a scratch dvd played on your home dvd player. So,
did this happen before any updates to your o/s, such if you are using windows media player to play your movies?? If not, it could be a software issue, where some updates will bring your programs up to date, but uses more cpu/memory and even your GPU (graphic processor) and thus cause your movies or video to play back slowly because your computer hardware is underpower to handle the up to date versions., or it could be vise versa where your program will needs an update to the newest version to play. (Usually like adobe, java to watch youtube or online videos). You might want to see if you can play with another program and see if you get different result, or maybe undo your update to previous version.

DVD PLAYER

Have you checked that the video card is capable of playing movies, that is does your computer meet the minimum requirements to play movies?

Note: Playback of movies is a very resource hungry activity and needs a powerful CPU and a powerful video card; not necessarily the most powerful by todays standards, but older computers may fall below ther minimums.

A modern basic video card should be able to play movies, but again check the minimum requirements for the whole computer to see if you need to upgrade any other equipment.

Secondly: Go to the video card manufacturers site and download the latest drivers for your card from there (Windows Update will not do this).

Good luck.
