I have a 1990 Ford F150 XLT with a 351 and E4OD auto. I was driving it home a few weeks ago and noticed that it seemed to be missing. I pulled up to a stop sign and as soon as the truck came to an idle it died. I tried starting it with no luck and noticed that the fuel pump wouldnt turn on. I thought that the fuel pump went bad so I replaced it. The truck started after a few tries and seemed to idle ok. I took it for a drive and after about 1 mile it started missing again. I got another mile and it died. The truck would not start and the fuel pump doesnt turn on again. I tested the original pump that I thought was bad, but it still works. Any ideas?
Replace the fuel pump relay. And if your truck has dual tanks there's three fuel pumps, one in each tank and another secondary fuel pump.
TO CK RELAY JUMP TO BIG TERMALS WITH A JUMPER WIRE FUEL PUMP WILL RUN
I have this same problem and i have the same exact truck..im in automotive classes at school...my teacher recommended me to try and clean the throttle body
You can check and make sure your strainer and filter are changed or your engine will "fall flat on its face" when started.
