Thermador Built in oven scd302 not heating upper oven, lower oven fine. Heating element not glowing red as the oven below it does.

Hi.

Problem is usually either temperature probe or heating element.

Grab a multimeter and set it on impedance (Ohms).
Remove first temperature probe and then heating element.
If either probe or element is reading open (ohms infinity), then replace the part.

If both probe and elements are not open, then the problem is either wiring or oven electronic control. The most common fault resulting in no heat is the temperature sensor located inside the oven cavity.

Regards.

TOP OVEN WORKS OK BUT BOTTOM OVEN DOES NOT HEAT UP

Hello,

There are a number of reasons why you may find that your oven doesn't heat up, and troubleshooting oven heating elements is not too complicated, so you should be able to manage this in a few hours. When you are trying to decide what is the cause of your oven not heating up properly, you should be able to identify the different problems, and also understand how to repair the oven without too much difficulty. If you find a lot of problems, then you may need to provide a different solution, for example replacing the heating element and fittings completely.
Heating Element is Broken
This is perhaps the most common cause of the oven not heating up. The element inside the oven will not become hot if the electrical connections are damaged, or if the element itself is not working. The heating element can be removed and replaced easily, and this is perhaps a very good idea if you have any problems with the heating system of your oven. Test the heating element by firing up the oven with the door open, and your hand close to the front of the element. You should be able to feel it warming up, so if it doesn't, take of the screws which hold it in place, and then unplug the connections. You can take the heating element to a store and they should be able to replace the part for you.

Hope this help in solving the problem.....

Oven not heating

If oven has more than one heating elemet the problem would appear to be faulty oven heat control as not common for two elements to open circuit simultaneously. If the oven has one heating element in modern ovens the element is normally removeable plug in type.
Get someone with electrical knowledge to check whether element is open circuied with a multimeter and confirm line voltage between the element contact points if not found to be opencircuited

Need to take bootom burner out of stove

Make sure you unplug the range.
There should be 2 screws on each side of the heating element, usually these are hex heads.
Remove the screws and gently side the heating element out a few inches.
You should then be able to unplug the wires to the element.
Hope this helps you
