Radio Schack converter doesn't program Ch: 25 like Magnavox!
I obtained two defective DTX9950 DTV Converter boxes from Radio Shack.
Both DTX9950 DTV Converter boxes "MUTED the SOUND from Christian Channels 25.1, .2, .3, .4, .5..
The
DTX9950 DTV Converter signal strength for Channel 25 is in the 60 range
and video quality is excellent and without pixleation,.. audio sound is non-existant.
Mute is "Off" and the "Audio Multitrack" sound button was "toggled" (to no avail)..
Other DTX9950 DTV Converter channels, with the same amplified antenna signal strength, have exceelent audio and video quality.
I returned one defective box to Radio Shack and they gave me a new
"sealed" defective DTX9950 DTV Converter box in exchange without acknowledgment of a problem.
My own personal opinion and
conclusion is that 100% of the 2 products that I tried are defective. (the odds of getting two defective products at different points in time are astromnomical!!) I have not been able to enjoy my favorite Broadcating Network when I try to use the DTX9950 DTV Converter boxes from Radio Shack .
Is there a better way to solve the problem than the alternative "fix" that I used as follows?
I Purchased a Magnavox TB110MWPP DTV Converter Box.
I
used the Magnavox TB110MWPP DTV Converter Box with the same TV, same
coax cables, same amplified TV signal and received flawless SOUND and
VIDEO from my Channels 25.1, .2, .3, .4, .5.It appears thatMagnavox makes a more "broad spectrum product".

You must have a converter box for the tv and for the vcr. Set the vcr to receive chanel 3 and set the converter box to the digital chanel you want to record. Put a splitter on the antenae out and route one to the tv converter box and one to the vcr converter box. GOOD TO GO.
Posting regarding the NHENS converter in January 2009. Bought it at Radio Shaft and it works -- feeding an old Panasonic b/w TV on channel 3. Live within 25 miles of the Empire State Building and the converter has managed to pick up and lock up on all NYC signals but channel 13. Also brings in channel 41 (licenced to NJ) and its subchannels plus the nearby channel 58 and its NJN-2 subchannel. Antenna is an amplified indoor rabbit ears with a loop also from Radio Shaft perched atop a kitchen cupboard on the 2nd floor of our house. Apparently, NHENS managed to correct the above referenced problems.
